VIII Stage of Sambo World Cup Championship

1.The objectives of the competition

  • popularize and promote sambo-wrestling in Russia and abroad
  • consolidate the international sports contacts
  • raise sport standards and skills
  • promote sambo development in Russia and abroad
  1. Date and Venue

Competitions will take place in Sankt-Petersburg (Russia) from October 2nd to 5th , 2009.

  1. Organizers

3.1. The competitions are organized by the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, St. Petersburg, the All-Russia Sambo Federation, Sambo Federation of St. Petersburg. Direct organization of the competition rests with the Organizing Committee and the Referee Board.

3.2. Stage of World Cup - VIII International Sambo Tournament is held in accordance with the applicable FIAS Sambo rules.

  1. Participation terms

The right to participate is granted to athletes-members of national teams whose home country National Sambo Federation is affiliated to FIAS, as well as teams of Sankt-Petersburg, Moscow and Chechen Republic containing up-to 21 people:

Athletes –9 men and 9 women

The applications for participation should be sent to All-Russia Sambo Federation till latest September 1st, 2009. Each application must have the information about the number of participants and their weight categories.

Participants and guests of the tournament above the mentioned the quota should be sponsored by their own organizations.

Participants’ check-roll must be also sent till latest September 1th, 2009. It must include the following information about the participants: full name, date of birth, passport number, date of arrival and departure.

  1. Technical conditions

Weight categories:

Sport sambo (men): 52 kg, 57 kg, 62 kg, 68 kg, 74 kg, 82 kg, 90 kg, 100 kg, +100 kg

Sport sambo (women): 48 kg, 52 kg, 56 kg, 60 kg, 64 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Each sportsman must have medical examination before leaving the home country for the competitions. The results have to be marked in the fighter’s license.

The Organizing Committee guarantees first aid to all members of sport delegations.

All participants, coaches, referees, and representatives must have medical insurance.

All participants must have FIAS license book with 2009 annual fee payment note (license costs– US $25).

Obligatory procedures:

5.5Team leaders should provide the secretariat of the Organizing Committee of the competition the following documents:

  • Application by weight categories;
  • Passport or identity card;
  • FIAS license book with annual fee payment note;
  • State Flag (1m x 2m) - 2 pcs. and recording of the National Anthem.

4.6All participants, coaches, referees, and representatives must have medical insurance.

4.7Only the international category referees are allowed to umpire according to the FIAS official invitation..

  1. Awarding of winners

7.1 Sportsmen who won first three prize places in sub-groups will be awarded with small medals and diplomas. Sportsmen who won first three prize places in super-finals will be awarded with medals, diplomas, cups and money prizes. Coaches of the champions will be awarded with diplomas, valuable prizes and money prizes.

I place – 30000 rubles

II place – 20000 rubles

III place – 15000 rubles

Coaches of the super-final winners – 15000 rubles.

  1. Official Ceremonies

Participants will take part in the official ceremonies of the International Tournament.

National anthems and rising of National flags ceremonies are performed in the honour of the super-final champion.

All athletes on parade and awards ceremonies must be in red Sambo jacket (kurtka), shorts and Sambo shoes (bortzovki).

  1. Financial terms

Organizing Committee, Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of St. Petersburg, All-Russia Sambo Federation, Sambo Federation of St. Petersburg provide equity financing of the Stage of World Cup, as agreed.

All members of the Stage of World Cup - VIII International Sambo Tournament will be provided with visa support needed to obtain visas at embassies and consulates of Russia..
