JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE CARE WORKER (SUPPORT AT HOME-PLUS SERVICE)
THE JOB TO OFFER SUPPORT TO PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA LIVING IN THEIR OWN HOME WITH PERSONAL CARE AND ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING.
QUALIFICATIONS NVQ LEVEL 2 IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE OR WILLING TO WORK TOWARDS.
LOCATION GRAVESHAM, DARTFORD AND SWANLEY
HOURS VARIABLE
REPORTING TO THE REGISTERED MANAGER
SALARY £8.00 per hour.
Enhanced rates for unsocial hours.
DUTIES
1. To visit clients in their own home to provide support as agreed in the individual care plans.
2. To provide support in a way that actively promotes independence, to enable the client to maintain their skills in their own home, and in the community.
3. To provide assistance with personal care, with a sensitive and thoughtful approach, which respects the person’s feelings, privacy and safeguards their dignity.
4. Supporting clients in continuing to do tasks, and focusing on their strengths to help maintain their physical and emotional well being, and increase their self-esteem and confidence.
5. To maintain client confidentiality.
6. Adhere to the organisational policies and procedures, and the standards set out by the Care Quality Commission.
7. To record changes in a clients well being or situation and report concerns to the Registered Manager.
8. Ensure records for medication, financial transactions and any other records are updated and maintained in a timely manner.
9. Attend regular supervision and team meetings.
10. Attend training courses necessary to this role and/or personal development.
PERSONAL QUALITIES REQUIRED
1. Have an understanding/knowledge of the needs of people with dementia and their carers (or a willingness to learn.)
2. Have a positive approach to the needs of people with dementia.
3. Have a caring attitude and a flexible approach.
4. Have the ability to problem solve and use your own initiative.
5. Have good communication skills and a sense of humour.
6. Have good time management skills and be punctual and reliable.
7. Be non judgemental.
8. Be responsible for one’s own well being in relation to the specific stresses of the job.
9. Support the aims of ADSS
10. Be willing to conform to the guidance of the registered manager and current legislation.
