PROGRAMME CO-ORDINATOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
The job will be based at Salters' Hall, 4 Fore Street, London, EC2Y 5DE, but at present the office is temporarily located at 72 King William Street, London, EC4N 7HR, with a projected move back to the Hall in February 2016.
This Programme Co-ordinator is one of two Programme Co-ordinators whose roles are to co-ordinate Institute projects as directed by the Institute Manager. The Salters’ Institute is the Flagship Charity of the Salters’ Company, 9th of the Great Twelve City of London Livery Companies.
The Institute is currently reviewing all its activities with a focus on the celebration of its Centenary in 2018. A key responsibility of this particular role is to develop and support the Salters' Festivals of Chemistry, currently around 50 held annually around the UK and Ireland, including 3-4 new pilot Festivals in 2016. Both Programme Co-ordinators will be involved in the development of other new projects as well as the Institute’s current programme of awards, prizes and events.
The Programme Co-ordinator will have considerable independence in the arrangement of his/her own work, working in partnership with the other Programme Co-ordinator, where appropriate, and will be expected to work with a minimum of supervisory control.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential
1. Excellent planning and administrative skills
2. Ability to communicate clearly and enthusiastically both internally and with a broad range of stake holders
3. Ability to prioritise and manage a variable workload with a flexible approach to work
4. Regard for detail, deadlines and delivery
5. A self-starter with an ability to work well independently and as a member of a team
6. Excellent office skills, including databases and their application, word processing and spreadsheet packages, experience of Microsoft Office 2013 an advantage
Desirable
1. A Science degree or equivalent, and a keen interest in science education
2. Experience of working in outreach to schools
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The appointment is subject to a six month period of probation, during which, performance will be regularly reviewed. Your employment shall be subject to termination by either party giving the other one weeks' prior notice in writing until you have been employed continuously for one year and thereafter one months’ notice, increasing by one week for each year of continuous service until you have completed twelve years of continuous employment after which you will be entitled to twelve weeks’ notice.
Hours: Normal office hours are 9.00am to 5.00pm, but some weekend and evening work will be expected throughout the year, this will include overnight stays outside London.
Holidays: 25 working days a year, plus public holidays.
Salary: £30,000, reviewed annually
Pension: Group Personal Pension Plan – employee pays 5% of salary and the Salters' Company contributes 15% of salary.

Season Ticket: An interest-free loan to purchase an annual season ticket.
