UT Dallas 2015Summer Research Experience

For Collin College Students

How would you like to spend your summer doing research in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematicsand work side by side with a UT DallasProfessor? Collin College and the University of Texas at Dallas have collaborated through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to give you the opportunity to participate in a Summer Research Experience (SRE). The goal of this summerposition is to assist students in gaining exposure to current research topics in their area of study while getting hands-on research experience.Placement into the program is based on applicant credentials and availability of research opportunities at UT Dallas. Upon completion of the research experience, students will be required to participate in a poster session highlighting aspects of the experience.

These are Research Positions offering:

  • Research with a university professor’s group
  • An8 week research experience (Summer 2015)
  • A $4000stipend for the summer experience.

Program Requirements
To participate in the program, the following criteria must be met:

  1. Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  2. Have completed 45 Credit Hours at the end of the Spring 2015 semester
  3. Must have taken a minimum of at least 15Credit Hours in your area of study (major, i.e.FOS Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Natural Science)
  4. Have applied to UTDallas and been admitted-OR- planning to transfer to UTDallas within the next 2 semesters
  5. Intend to complete a Bachelor’s Degree at UTDallas.

  • Summer Research Experience Application
  • Resume (1-1 ½ pages)
  • Official Collin College Academic Transcript
  • Twoletters of recommendation from a Collin CollegeScience, Technology, Engineering or Math professors
  • Essay (1-1 ½ pages) - Telling the selection committeeabout you, your area of interest, why you are the best candidate for a SRE Internship, and how this internship will fulfill another step in your transition to/graduation from UT Dallas.
