AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THOMAS CHAMBERS OF GREENVILLE COUNTY UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT FROM BRYSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AFTERYEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG MINDS AND TO WISH HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representativeshave learned that Thomas Chambers will begin a welldeserved retirement after thirtynine years as a premier educator and administrator; and
Whereas, raised in Pelzer, Thomas is the son of Annie Mae and Edward Chambers. He graduated from Woodmont High School in Greenville County and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Lander University; and
Whereas, Thomas furthered his education with two masters degrees earned from Clemson University; and
Whereas, of the thirtynine years Thomas has spent in education, twentynine of those years have been with Greenville County Schools. Thomas served as assistant principal at Hillcrest Middle School and Fountain Inn Elementary School. For the past twentyone years, he has been the principal of Bryson Elementary School; and
Whereas, in the early years of his career, Thomas also coached basketball and football. Additionally, he has played the piano and served as Minister of Music at Augusta Road United Methodist Church for over thirty years; and
Whereas, Thomas is married to his cherished wife Karen Chambers, who is also retiring from the position of principal within Greenville County Schools. They have a son Russ Chambers, who is a pastor and a Christian radio host in California, and a daughter Lindsey C. Esposito, who is a teacher and coach with Greenville County Schools. Furthermore, they have three beloved grandchildren, Macie, Lucas, and Norah; and
Whereas, he plans to spend many happy hours of a welldeserved retirement playing golf and enjoying Clemson football; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representativesare grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Thomas has devoted to the children of Greenville and wish him many years of enjoyment in his wellearned retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Thomas Chambers of Greenville County upon the occasion of his retirement from Bryson Elementary School after years of outstanding service to the education of young minds and wish him continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Thomas Chambers.
