John 1:1 -3, 14
This morning we begin our journey through the Gospel of John. John’s Gospel is one of the four canonical gospels in the NTand traditionally appears after the synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. ______

· John’s purpose in this Gospel was to record Jesus’ signs and miracles so that the reader would come to believe in Jesus as The Christ (John 20:31). ______

· My purpose is to draw us closer to Jesus as Christ, to strengthen our faith in Jesus as the Son of God, and to declare Jesus as Lord, Savior, and soon-coming King. ______

§ My purpose is to deepen our understanding of eternal life by revealing Jesus’ life, ministry, passion, and sacrifice. ______

§ The Word of God teaches the pre-incarnation and pre-existence of Jesus Christ. ______

The Relevant Question > “How does Jesus make God visible?”
1 – THE WORD IS ______
§ Let us first deal with the “word.” The Greek for word is “Logos.” ______
______
· The Word of God is living and active. It’s the word who saves. It’s the word who heals. It’s the word who delivers. ______
______
§ The Word was breathed by God the Father, and was inspired by God the Holy Spirit. ______
______
· For Jesus is both was and with God; for Logos is the same as God. ______
______
§ Even in His earthly name, His character is seen. In Hebrew it is Jesus, or Yeshua. ______
______
2 – THE WORD IS ______
§ The Word of God, or Logos is eternal. Jesus coexisted with God before the beginning. ______
______
§ That is, the Logos has always been in relationship with God the Father. ______
______
· Both Father and Son is God; yet, they are not two Gods, but ONE: a Trinity comprising the GODHEAD. In 1John 5:7, the Apostle states, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” ______

· Like King David, we too wish to hide the Logos Word in our hearts that we might not sin against God [Ps. 119:11]. ______

3 – THE WORD IS ______
§ “In the beginning” is an intentional reminder of the Genesis event. That at Creation, Jesus already co-existed with God, as the Word. ______

§ God conceived or gave thought for Creation and said > “Let there be…” ______
______
· It was the Word that created the universe and communicated the Will of God. ______
______
· In v14, John proclaims that > “The word became flesh and dwelt among us …”______
______
· That is, divinity became humanity and tabernacle in the midst of us was the most amazing revelation of God’s divine love. ______
