Station Radios / AJ updated that LU station radios are now regularly obtained by PCSO’s on late shifts and asked whether this was something NWR would like to see replicated on the mainline station. Station Announcements / Attendees agreed that in light of the recent reduction in reported thefts at Kings Cross there was now no need to have additional announcements at the station. AJ stated that the action would be closed. / AJ / Closed

Shop watch / AJ provided an update explaining that PCSO Nokes had taken steps to initiate a Shop watch at Kings Cross which was linked in with the existing St Pancras initiative. Taxi Touts / AJ explained that it had been decided not to make the enforcement of taxi touts a PSP. He added that it would instead be targeted as part of a summer operation at Kings Cross which would be conducted in partnership with Camden Street Wardens, Metropolitan Police, and TfL. / Kings Cross Hub Team / Ongoing
Performance
AJ outlined the year to date performance on both the Mainline and Underground station.
The Mainline figures were highlighted as being strong with only 49 recorded crimes at the station since the 1st April which put the team on target to meet its reduction target of having only 243 crimes for the year. AJ explained that this achievement was helped largely by the reductions in cycle crime which were realised by the work of the PACT and a previous PSP.
AJ also highlighted that there had been two reported staff assaults on the mainline of which one had been detected and also that there had been one reported violent / sexual / robbery (VSR) offence at the Mainline station.
The Underground figures were also highlighted although AJ did state that due to a restructuring on the network they could have become distorted since the previous year. AJ explained that a major concern for the Hub team in the coming weeks was in relation to the theft of passenger property on board trains and that because of this the team would be focused on the platform areas of the Underground station. AJ also added that this was not an issue solely for Kings Cross and so the Hub team would be linking in with London Underground teams in order to target the increases in crime.
Current Terror Threat
NAh provided an update to attendees on the current terror threat within Camden and, more specifically, the Camden Security Zone.
Nah outlined that the threat level remains at Severe however added that the threat posed to hotels by a Mumbai style attack had increased. She stated that she is offering Op Fairway presentations along the Euston corridor (spotting hostile reconnaissance) and would be happy to provide them to station staff and tenants. AJ thanked Nah for this offer and took an action to ascertain whether BTP could offer similar presentations or whether authority could be obtained for Nah to provide it.
NAh also outlined the recent coded message made an Irish Republican Group stating that whilst the warning was genuine no viable device was found.
4.UPDATE PROBLEM SOLVING GROUPS:
Problem solving groups are for those long term ongoing issues, that tend to not have an impact on the community, but they will affect BTP and particular community groups. These also tend to be the biggest crimes.
Problem Solving Plans are for the short term issues that can hope to be solved in a 6-8 week period.

Street Drinkers / AJagain highlighted that the need to make arrangements to provide a visible presence on Sunday mornings would be negated by roster changes in July. Hereiterated that no further incidents had been reported by staff nor had any arrests been made.
AJ stated that he would be looking to close this PSP down in the next couple of weeks.
TR suggested to MA that a reintroductiuon of a night ticket (one which is valid until 08:00 as opposed to 04:00) may be of benefit to the network whilst CH suggested some kind of signage to inform passengers of when their ticket is valid until. MA stated she would take points raised back to the LU for consideration.

Theft of Passenger Property (Circle Line) / AJ reiterated that this PSP was in support of one being conducted by the Circle Line Team on the Underground area. He explained that a full update was not currently available due to changes within the Circle Line team and its geographical boundaries.
AJ stated that engagement / property marking pens events had taken place and been well received. He added that work around the Circle Line (and other lines) would continue especially in light of recent increases of TPP on the network.
During the update MA mentioned an initiative held at Leicester Square LU Station that could be introduced at Kings Cross. AJ asked MA to forward details of the organiser of this initiative.

Cash in Transit / AJ updated attendees of the reasons why the PSP had been opened and asked whether it was a problem that had been noted by other stakeholders other than the LU to MM confirmed that Network Rail had experienced no issues.
Attendees were informed that the main approach to this PSP was the engagement with Group 4 Securicor (G4S) as they are responsible for cash deliveries to Kings Cross. AJ explained that following consultation with the G4S operations manager an agreement had been reached that his drivers would not park on pavements around Kings Cross.
AJ highlighted that since G4S had been consulted with no further incidents had been reported to Police and so the PSP would be closed as a success.

6. ANY OTHER BUSINESS:
Street Drinkers and Beggars
SR informed attendees that Camden Wardens had raised concerns about begging adjacent to cash machines on the South Side of the Euston Road and had requested BTP assistance. MMc stated that she and her team were aware of the issue and maintained regular patrols of the area. AJ informed attendees that the Kings Cross team would not routinely patrol the area around the cash machines as it was within Metropolitan Police jurisdiction although added that it would be considered during pre planned, joint Policing operations.
Nero
Whilst discussing stakeholder concerns JA highlighted two concerns.
The first concern involved theft from their fridge at the front of their unit. AJ asked whether the fridge could be replaced with one that had a door whilst TR asked if it could be moved.
The second concern related to beggars asking for money in the queues at the unit. JA highlighted that this took place in both the inside and outside queues. MMc provided JA contact details for him to report sightings to her team whilst AJ took an action to introduce ASBO forms for Nero staff to complete when they spotted beggars in the area.
Boots / Consideration for a Shopwatch Meeting
RM highlighted that Boots had been experiencing a rise in both thefts from the store and also incidents of anti social behaviour.
AJ asked whether the rise in thefts would justify and allow for additional security presence to cover the whole day however RM was unsure that this was an option.
RM explained that the rise in anti social behaviour and thefts had been linked to the needle exchange initiative offered by Boots. He stated that some of those using the initiative have come into the store, sometimes in two’s or three’s, and demonstrated aggression towards staff and members of the public. RM stated that because individuals had been banned from he store due to their behaviour they were now pressing members of the public into obtaining needles on their behalf.
Whilst discussing the recent increases RM asked whether he and staff could be provided with a briefing on known offenders in the area. AJ highlighted initial plans for a Shop Watch meeting for Kings Cross and St Pancras as the provision of images to retail units would have to be controlled and unfortunately this could not be guaranteed at Boots due to the open door nature of their office.
RM also highlighted to attendees that Boots were receiving complaints about the general appearance on the Euston Road frontage of the store as people were littering, urinating on the wall and also leaving bags of rubbish. AJ informed RM that as an LU premises he should highlight these issues to them directly however he asked whether tenants in that part of the station had access to bins. RM stated that Boots were provided bins in St Pancras station but was unaware of any arrangements in place for Costa Coffee. AJ asked SR to take an action to speak with Camden Council about litter enforcement outside Boots and also to liaise with Costa to ascertain whether they were responsible for the bin bags.
Mark Isham
MMc highlighted that a well known and previous offender around Kings Cross was being released from prison on 16th June 2011. She informed those present that he was subject to an ASBO which he had breached on a number of occasions before. MMc warned that Isham should not be approached due to his violent nature. AJ took an action to provide / ensure staff were shown an image of Isham so that his ASBO could take proper effect.
Op Fairway & Project Griffin
During her update NAh informed attendees that she and her team had been providing training to businesses within the Euston Community Security Zone and that this had been well received. NAh stated this training included Op Fairway presentations for staff in order to raise awareness of hostile reconnaissance and Project Griffin which aims to bring Police and businesses together to protect their communities from terrorism. NAh informed AJ she would be happy to provide this training to stakeholders at Kings Cross as long there were no objections. AJ stated he would take an action to either have BTP provide the training to or obtain authority for the Metropolitan Police to provide it.
