The strength of The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) is our staff. Each year at the annual meeting, awards are presented to members of staff who are nominated by colleagues for their outstanding contribution to the hospital in their chosen field.

Staff nominated for the annual staff awards work in support of the RCH vision and strategic goals; reflect the hospital’s values of unity, integrity, excellence and respect and are recognised by their peers for their outstanding contribution to the hospital.

The Mary Patten Award

Nominees for this award must be members of the nursing staff at The Royal Children's Hospital who:

·  Display outstanding leadership in nursing care

·  Have a commitment to providing family centred patient care

·  Be committed to improving patient care

·  Encourage others to strive to achieve

·  Be an advocate in advancing the profession of nursing

·  Recognise the value of research in improving clinical care

Any member of staff may nominate a nurse for this award.
