Main Purpose of Job:
- To provide leadership, management and accountability for the HMP Family Services and Significant Others Service contract which operates across all 12 prisons, thiscomprisesof Family Service Interventions, Visitors’ Centres, Play Provision and Catering services.
- To promote the continuous improvement across all of your services to ensure the very best outcomes for children, young people and their families visiting prisons. This includes the performance management of procured services to contractual specification and requirements, within organisational systems, policies and strategic direction.
- To lead and implement change across your portfolio of services in response to internal and external initiators for change.
- To manage the delivery of the HMP Family Services and Significant Others Servicecontract in compliance with quality safeguarding practice, operating within the relevant Local Safeguarding Children Board and Spurgeons policies and procedures.

Providing Excellent Services
- To build and sustain collaborative relationships with multi-agency partners and statutory commissioners to promote effective service delivery and informing your line manager of market opportunities to obtain new contracts for the organisation.
- To manage the delivery of theHMP Family Services and Significant Others Service so that it is compliant with quality safeguarding practice, ensuring that all services within your area of responsibility operate within the procedures for the relevant Local Safeguarding Children Board and Spurgeons policies and procedures, and consistently applying Spurgeons safeguarding reporting, monitoring and audit processes.
- To ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements, ensuring health and safety risks are assessed and mitigated for, and that the promotion of equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion is fully adhered to across all services within your area of responsibility.
- To participate in the local on-call rota as required by the On Call Policy and Procedure.
- To manage the development of services to ensure there is progression as per the service improvement cycle.
- To work flexibly and in managing services across Spurgeons as required.
- To provide leadership and management for the delivery of the HMP Family Services and Significant Others Service , where effective decisions are made, services are managed in accordance with commissioner and inspectorate requirements and continuous improvement is encouraged.
- To develop productive working relationships with colleagues in your staff team ensuring the team is built, managed, sustained and conflict is reduced, ensuring Spurgeons’ Core Values and leadership behaviours are promoted throughout.
- To provide regular and appropriate supervision and appraisals for your Family Servicesmanagement team, providing support and challenge to develop and maintain their performance, addressing problems affecting their performance and promoting the required learning opportunities and professional development.
- To comply with HR processes for staff performance management including recruitment, selecting and retaining of colleagues and when necessary, the initiation and following through of disciplinary and grievance procedures and the management of redundancies as appropriate.
- To facilitate change management processes across the HMP Family Services and Significant Others Service contract Service within your area of responsibility as required through the planning, leading and implementation of change to ensure services achieve the very best outcomes for children, young people and their families and are delivered within budget.
- To be effective in the communication of key messages, knowledge and information to work colleagues, your Family Servicesmanagement team and stakeholders through the leading of meetings, delivery of presentations, participation in meetings, compilation and circulation of written documentation, and via technology.
- To participate in regular supervision, appraisals and undertake necessary professional development including being an active member within the Service Delivery Group as assigned by your line manager.
- To take the lead with the Family Services management teamto ensure operational plans are effectively developed and implemented for the HMP Family Services and Significant Others Service contractto enable clarity over the allocation of work, monitoring of progress and achievement of the required quality of service outcomes.
- To compile and manage the operational and financial plans and budgets for the HMP FS&SO Service, ensuring they are sustainable and functionally viable, and to control and monitor implementation.
- To manage within Spurgeons business processes and quality systems to ensure that all services operate within Spurgeons management information and monitoring processes, that data is collected and analysed to enable effective decision making to improve performance and deliver better outcomes.
- To manage and improve the delivery of customer service, customer satisfaction and service delivery through the implementation of regular project inspections and quality audits within the Spurgeons performance management cycle.

Qualifications
/ A degree level or equivalent educationA professional qualification in the children’s social care field such as Social Work,or in criminal justice.
Evidence of management development and/or training in the form of a recognised management qualification (professional diploma, post graduate study etc)
Evidence of recent and continuing professional development in your professional field and its relevance to the post’s requirements. / E

/ Evidence of significant professional experience of managing interagency services for children, young people and families in their communities, and/or in the criminal justice field.Evidence of early years or criminal justice experience
Evidence of experience of working with partners and stakeholders in multi-agency operational and strategic forums for prevention and other appropriate services to children and young people in a local community setting.
Experience of using data bases for recording, maintaining monitoring and retrieving information for service application / E
