Systems and Integration Services

Pace University Libraries

Pace University

Mission

The Library Systems and Integration Department (LSID) serves the library, the library patrons, its staff and the library management council in the areas of systems and computing support to access and use the library resources, in the planning and implementation of information technology projects and in the resolution of technology related issues affecting libraries arising from university technology related initiatives.

These are the major functions of the LSID

1)To provide ongoing support to all valid library users in the areas of information access, resolution of system related problems, and the provision of appropriate technology to staff and faculty to access and deliver information for instructional and research purposes;

2)To serve as a liaison between the library and the University’s Information Technology department (DOIT-Division of Information Technology) so that library systems and information technology related interests are well represented in the overall planning and agenda of the University vis-à-vis its technology infrastructure;

3)To install, test and provide ongoing maintenance to all hardware, software and corollary computing peripherals used by the library for its staff and patrons;

4)To keep the staff informed of all technology related initiatives and help them develop the necessary skills to use it;

5)To determine emerging trends in library technology and information services and advise the Library Management Council as well as department and unit heads about appropriate technology that the library should procure and adopt.

6)To serve as coordinating unit for technology-related initiatives that require library involvement both within the University community and with any consortial partners of the library

Staff

Library staff provide university library wide responsibilities so that they are sent to any of the 3 branches of the library whenever their services are needed. They also work with the different departments and units of the library either as coordinator, team member, or project leader of systems related projects. Consortial and systems partnerships such as with The College of Law, PaceUniversity, and the College of New Rochelle, are also administered by the head of the library systems unit.
