- Rule- Adjectives must match the noun they modify in number and in gender.
Ex.: He is active. = Él es activo.
She is active. = Ella es activa.
The boys are active. = Los chicos son activos.

- Use forms of “SER” to tell what someone or something is like, how one is characteristically.
- Telling someone’s mental characteristics-
Ex.: Brian is smart = Paco es inteligente.
- Telling someone’s physical traits-
Ex.: Paco and Jorge are tall. = Paco y Jorge son altos
- Telling someone’s personality traits-
Ex.: Tú and Ana are nice. = Tú y Ana son simpáticas.

- Use forms of “tener” to ask and say how old one is.
- ¿Cuántos años tienes (tú)?- How many years do you have? (In English we ask, “How old are you?”)

- ¿Cuántos años tiene Marta?- How many years does Marta have? (In English, we ask, “How old is Marta?”

- Rules about questions:
- To ask a yes/no question – raise your voice at the end of the sentence.
- Subjects, if included, can go before or after the verb.
Ex:¿ La profesora es simpática?
¿Esla profesora simpática?
- To answer a yes or no question with no- use 2 “no’s”- 1 to answer, and 1 to say not.
Ex: No, La profesora no es simpática.
