What is Latino Partnership Leadership Institute?

The Latino Partnership Initiative is a vehicle that serves our community as a catalyst to unify, build, advocate and implement a comprehensive common agenda. Recognizing our diversity and respecting our culture and spiritual identity, the Latino Partnership Initiative will fortify and voice our social consciousness to move to organized action.

In an effort to accomplish its mission the Latino Partnership Initiative has created The Latino Leadership Institute. The Latino Leadership Institute Mission: Is to empower New Latino Youth leaders to gained specialized skills in the development of new organizations and the enhancement of existing organizations. The goal of the Institute is to foment and nurture the development of civic leadership among emerging Latino/a leaders in the Delaware Valley. The primary goal of the Institute is to advance the well being of the Delaware Valley’s Latino community at the social, economic, cultural and political levels. The Leadership Institute operates on a two-semester basis, covering five modules during each semester. A total of one hundred and twenty three participants have graduated from the LatinoPartnership Leadership Institute since 2002.

Selection Criteria:

  • Resident of the Delaware Valley
  • Willing to serve on boards and committee in the Latino community
  • Preferably people who have a commitment with the community five years or more
  • Must have at least six months of organizational experience
  • 18 years old
  • English proficient
  • Letter of recommendation (from mentor, teacher or employer)

Who attends the Latino Partnership Leadership Instituteand how are they selected?

Participation in the Latino Partnership Leadership Institute is limited to those individuals who are either nominated or recommended to apply, either by virtue of their demonstrated interest in leadership or their native leadership talent. Applications are carefully screened and candidates are interviewed by a team which includes: Latino Partnership Steering Committee Members, Peers, and Staff.Candidates are selected based on their commitment, their motivation and their interest in the Latino Partnership Leadership Institute.

What format is the class and how long is it?

Classes begin at 8:30 am (breakfast and lunch served) and end at 4:00 pm. All workshops are a mix of direct teaching and interactive exercises. Class participants are always encouraged to ask questions, share observations, challenge assertions, and apply techniques learned.
