CLASS TITLE:PUBLIC INFORMATION DIRECTOR - SES

This is work directing an extensive program of public information and public relations for an agency. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

- Formulates, develops and administers public information programs.
- Assigns, edits and directs dissemination of agency information for the media and public.
- Gathers material for and writes, edits, lays out and coordinates production of publications.
- Gathers material for and writes, edits, voices and transmits radio and television information programs.
- Responds to inquiries from news media and the public.
- Serves as chief spokesperson for an agency head.
- Researches material to be used in speeches.
- Writes and edits speeches.
- Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
