Sumter County is a type 4, E911 system consisting of two Primary PSAPs and one Secondary PSAP as follows:
9.60.1.1 SHERIFF'S OFFICE PRIMARY PSAP
The Sumter County Sheriff operates a Primary PSAP, which direct dispatches law enforcement for all unincorporated areas in the county as well as the municipalities of Bushnell, Coleman, Webster, and Center Hill. All fire and rescue calls are transferred to the Sumter County Fire & EMS Secondary PSAP in Bushnell.
A small portion of south Sumter County is included in the Trilacoochee central office, (583), which is trunked to the AT&T tandem switch in Gainesville. Likewise, a small portion in this area is included in the Dade City (567) central office and is trunked to the GTE tandem in Tampa. A call forwarding system forwards calls from Sumter County citizens to the Sheriff's Office PSAP in Bushnell. Three central offices, Lady Lake (750, 751 & 753), Leesburg (738, 787 & 326) and Groveland (429) are partially in Sumter County. Calls from Sumter County citizens in those three areas are trunked to a county- owned selective routing system in Lake County. Coordination between Sumter and Lake County are required in order that Sumter County calls are selectively routed to the Sheriff's Office Primary PSAP in Bushnell.
