Individual and Community Fundraiser

Hours: Full-time or part-time (4 days per week would be considered for the right candidate)

Location: Based in Kingston upon Thames, but must be a car owner/driver as will need to be out in the community regularly

The main objectivesof this role aretomanage two of our key fundraising income streams – individual donors and community fundraising – providing excellent supporter care and developing and delivering a range of individual and community fundraising initiatives throughout the year working in our catchment area of Kingston, Epsom, Chertsey (St Peter’s), Croydon and Redhill (East Surrey).

Momentum Children’s Charity is a local charity, with an office in Kingston, and links with several local hospitals. We support over 250 families whose children have cancer or a life-limiting illness. We have a small and very friendly team of people working at the charity, and it is a very exciting time to join the organisation ahead of our 15th anniversary in 2019.

This role would suit someone who is very strong administratively, with excellent communication and IT skills, and who wants to grow their charity fundraising experience. The role is fun and varied, with a good balance between being in the office and out and about. Ideally you will have worked in a charity, or fundraising environment, already.

Given the nature of community fundraising, there may be times when evening and weekend work is necessary so it is vital that you are able to be flexible with your work hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Set up, develop, plan and implement a range of individual and community activities (excluding schools), in conjunction with the Head of Fundraising and Communications in line with budget and the overall Business Plan and Fundraising and Communications Strategy
  2. Manage income and expenditure budgets to ensure that targets are met, providing regular reports
  3. Work up an annual plan for community fundraising, including a selection of community fundraising ideas, and promote to existing and new supporters
  4. Work up plan for growing individual donations, with particular focus on regular giving, in line with business plan
  5. Monitor local community events (summer fairs, Christmas, community fun days etc) and make applications for Momentum to benefit as appropriate
  6. Develop a monthly plan for making contact with different local community groupsto encourage support for Momentum, and build relationships with local Women’s Institutes, Rotary, Roundtable
  7. Manage key community events for Momentum including Hospital Open Day, Christmas sales, Valentine’s Collection in February
  8. Nuture and communicate with our regular volunteers to provide volunteer support at community events as required
  9. Identify Volunteer Ambassadors for each of the major towns within our catchment, to support community efforts
  10. Oversee distribution of collection tins and leaflets within the community, managing pick-up and replenishing of stocks
  11. Provide exceptional supporter care to individual and community fundraisers
  12. Record donations and thank yous, keeping Salesforce database up to date
  13. Encourage publicity for community fundraising efforts with local media, connecting them with Momentum PR Officer as necessary
  14. Attend community events acting as a charity ambassador and give presentations, speeches etc
  15. Monitor levels of merchandise (T-shirts, collection boxes, stickers, capsetc) and fundraising materials (posters, fundraising packs, sponsorship forms), replenishing stocks as necessary

Salary range: £23-£26k depending on experience
