An outstanding College, Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form is situated in an established, beautiful and historic part of Cheshire. There is a range of quality housing with access to excellent primary and secondary schools and the area has good transport links to Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and Warrington. Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form is an excellent College to both start and enhance your career. A specialist A Level College, we are a community of students and colleagues who share an ethos and mission of excellence, integrity and compassion in all we strive to achieve. Students are a delight to teach: they are engaged, aspirational and highly motivated.

Catchment Area

  • We have seven excellent and well respected partner high schools and half of our students progress from these schools.
  • Students come from a wide range of 11-18 schools within and beyond Cheshire from both the maintained and independent sectors.

Facilities

  • A £28m capital project recently completed, which has effected the complete regeneration of the College’s facilities by providing new teaching rooms for allsubjects, a new integrated Learning Resource Centre, a new theatre complex and remodelled dining and social facilities.
  • All departments with accommodation grouped in subject suites.
  • A quiet work room and common room for all staff, supplemented by departmental staff work areas throughout the campus.
  • Attractive riverside grounds.
  • Sports Hall, swimming pool, boathouse with river access, floodlit all-weather pitch and on-site playing fields. (In the evenings and at weekends the College runs a Leisure Centre catering for some 60,000 customers per annum.)

Provision for Students

  • Full-time students choose from around 30+ A level courses.
  • A thriving programme of sport and leisure activities.
  • A range of additional enrichment activities, including community service, music and drama.
  • An active House system, including House Captains.
  • Personal support and guidance from a dedicated Progress Mentor Team.
  • Guidance for Careers and Higher Education from specialist staff, together with Personal Tutors.
  • Support from a dedicated Additional Learning Support department for students with learning difficulties or disabilities.
  • Access to a confidential counselling service.

College Achievements

  • Individual subjects regularly achieve very high A Level pass rates (often 100%), and subject retention rates are also high, thus success rates are consistently outstanding.
  • Hence the College is always inthe top 10 colleges in National Performance Tables since publication began.
  • Around 90% of A level students proceed to degree courses.
  • The majority of those students entering directly into the job market have been successful in securing employment with training and sound career prospects.
