LIGHTEN UP YOUR HOME TO AVOID BEING A VICTIM OF BURGLARY
It’s that time of year again when the dark nights are upon us. A simple method of leaving a light on in your home can significantly reduce the chance of being burgled especially at this time of year when there is generally a peak in house burglaries. Most house break-ins are opportunistic, so don’t give thieves an opportunity.”
The ‘Lighten up’ top security tips are:
- A well-lit home gives the impression someone is in
- Use timer switches to turn lamps on when you are out
- Save energy and money with low-energy light bulbs
- Lock windows and doors and keep gates and side entrances well secured
- Invest in external lighting such as PIR lights to light up outbuildings and yards
