Second Team Competition Rules
2014-2015
Dear Hon Secretary,
The question of eligibility is always a major problem and I must thank the clubs who have participated in the past for their honesty as we do rely greatly on the clubs to follow the competition rules. I hope that the clubs continue to do this in an honest and fair way and that we do not have any problems this season.
- No player may participate in the competition unless he is a bona fide playing club member who plays his regular Saturday rugby for the club.
- No player may play in the competition for his club above League Level 9 if he has played from the start in two or more RFU league games during March or April.
- For clubs above Level 5 no player may play in the competition for his club if he has played from the start in two or more first (RFU) or club second team fixtures games during February March or April.
- If a player has been a nominated replacement for RFU league games above League Level 9 he may play in the competition even if he has come on as a replacement during the league game.
- The competition will be known as the Coventry & Mid Warwickshire 2nd XV
Competition.
- The competition will be played during April & May 2015 on Wednesday evenings. Kick off at 6.00 p.m. promptly. If a club drawn at home has floodlights to match playing standards the kick off time may be changed to 7.15p.m. The away team must consent to this. If the away team is agreeable to this the home team must inform the referees society and John Alford or Stan Mathews as soon as possible.
- Rolling Replacements will be allowed with 8 interchanges per match.
- The dates for the competition are as follows:
Preliminary Round (If required), 8th April.
First Round, 15th April
Semi Finals, 22nd April.
Final at Venue TBC, Weds May 6th, kick off 7.30 p.m.
- All games will be 35 minutes each way. If the scores are level at the end of normal time extra time will be played. Extra time will be a maximum of 10 minutes each way. The first score in extra time wins the game, (sudden death). If there is no score in extra time, the match will be replayed to a finish on the following Sunday at the away teams ground, (kick off time 2.30 p.m.), unless played beforehand by mutual agreement of the clubs concerned. Prior to commencement of extra timesides will toss for choice of ends or kick off.
- The Referees Society will be informed of the games but it is the responsibility of the home club to confirm the referee with the society and to liaise with the referee appointed to the game. If the home club does not do this they could well find that the referee fails to turn up. If games are called off for whatever reason please inform the referee’s society and the organisers as soon as possible. If alternative arrangements have been made please do this at the same time.
- Five nominated replacements are allowed. A minimum of four of the squad of twenty must be capable of playing in the front row and the nominated front row replacement(s) must be notified to the referee prior to the game commencing. Normal arrangements for the use of blood replacements. If having used all nominated front row replacements the game will continue with non contested scrums but the team responsible for this will have to loose a player.
- Any objections to the eligibility of players etc. must be notified by phone to John Alford or Charlie McGinty within 48 hours of the game being played. The decision of the officers of the District Union on such matters will be final.
