Flygirl Novel Unit
For the next 3 weeks you will be reading the novel Flygirlby Sherri L. Smith. You will be required to read this book both in and outside of class. Please make sure you bring your novel to class every day. All components listed (reading check quizzes, reader response journals, and project elements) should be turned in inside a bradded folder with a decorated cover that is related to your novel on Wednesday, April 27.
Reading Check Quiz Dates:
These quizzes will be worth 10 points each. They are not intended to be tricky, but simply to ensure you are keeping up with the reading. They will add up to a summative (quiz) grade (50 pts).
Tuesday, April 12: Pages 1-49 (Chapters 1-5)
Friday, April 15: Pages 50-99 (Chapters 6-10)
Tuesday, April 19: Pages 100-152 (Chapters 11-15)

Reader Response Journals Dates:
You will complete 2 reader response journals that will help you practice your critical thinking skills. These response journals will not be summaries. They are your reflections on the book that will assist you in group discussion. Questions to guide your reflections are attached. Each reader response needs to be between half a page to three quarters of a page. They will be worth 50 points a piece and add up to 1 formative grade (100 pts).
