January,2018
Dear Parents,
Welcome to New Eagle Elementary School! On behalf of the entire New Eagle staff, I wish you the best with the registration process and hope that you find Kindergarten to be academically and socially rewarding. This letter is intended to provide you with the information necessary to register for Kindergarten and to make you feel comfortable with what to expect as you join us at New Eagle.
Registration Materials(Click Here for Registration Forms)
There are a number of forms to be filled out and documents to be copied as part of the registration process. Please know that your child is not considered registered until all the required information is collected. If you do not have one of the required documents at this time, please bring it to New Eagle as soon as possible so that we can count your child as one of our students for the coming year. Accuracy is important as we plan for the appropriate number of classrooms and teachers. Your assistance and understanding is greatly appreciated.
Assignment of Students to Morning and Afternoon Kindergarten Sessions
Kindergarten in T/E is half-day. The AM and PM class assignments are based primarily upon neighborhood locations. Knowing that many families wish to carpool and maintain a sense of local community, we believe that maintaining a “neighborhood” concept is an important consideration. By considering neighborhoods, it also is possible to provide balance in our transportation system and to maintain greater efficiency in this area. Other factors, such as gender balances and class sizes, are also considered in determining AM and PM assignments. Request for AM or PM placement must be based on specific medical or hardship reasons and must be made to me, in writing, prior to summer months when AM and PM assignments are communicated to families. Once AM and PM assignments are communicated to families, they will not normally be changed due to the creation of balanced classes. Requests for particular teachers will not be considered.
A Child’s Place
For your information, the District will continue to provide facilities for child care services through the independent day care provider,A Child’s Place. Assuming there is sufficient enrollment and space, these services will be available at parents’ expense for both the morning and afternoon sessions. You may call A Child’s Place at (610)687-1263 for rates and general information.
Orientation Sessions
On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, we will hold New Eagle’s Kindergarten Orientation Programs at 9:15 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Your invitation to the orientation will be sent to you in the spring. I hope that you and your child will be able to attend one of these programs. The children will visit the classrooms and participate in several activities and a short bus ride, while you become acquainted with our Kindergarten program.
Kindergarten Screening and Parent-Teacher Conferences: August 27 – August 31, 2018
In the Fall, Kindergarten students do not start school on the same day as the other elementary students. Between August 27th and August 31st, Kindergarten students and parents come to school for a scheduled appointment. During this appointment, one of our Reading Support Staff members will work with each child while the Kindergarten teacher meets with each parent. We have found this to be a wonderful way of getting to know our Kindergarten students. The first day for Kindergarten classes will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions. All of us at New Eagle look forward to working with you and your child in the years to come.
Sincerely,
Patrick J. Gately, Ed.D.
Principal
