Job Description

The YWCA Hawaii Island is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The YWCA Hawaii Island is currently seeking an innovative and accomplished Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead this historically rich organization that has served Hawaii Island for more than 90 years. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors through its elected President, and works in partnership with the Board to provide leadership, vision and direction in implementing policies, managing operations and representing the organization in the community.
The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for all financial, operational, administrative and legal aspects of the daily organizational management of the agency, which includes but is not limited to:
· annual fund development
· public relations/marketing
· sound management of all fiscal resources
· supervision of established programs staff, and business operations in accordance with standard business practices.
· creation and pursuit of new opportunities for the organization, including programming, resource development and public relations.
· advancement of YWCA hallmark initiatives in women’s economic empowerment and racial justice.
The CEO will also liaison effectively with national, state, regional and local organizations, and coordinate the contributions of a diverse group of directors, donors, staff, volunteers
The primary responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer are:
BOARD:
· Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to set strategic goals, establish policies and enhance human and financial resources to assure continued growth and success of the organization;
· Provide effective and strategic leadership and vision for the development, management, and fiscal responsibility of the YWCA Hawaii Island.
Finance and Administration:
· Assess and assure financial feasibility of current and new programs, and services;
· Work closely with the Finance Chair and the Board of Directors to assure efficient and accurate financial reporting that results in full understanding by the Board of Directors;
· Safeguard the financial health, stability and sustainability of the organization;
· Establish and maintain financial controls according to current applicable laws, regulations and sound business practices.
Resource Development:
· Work collaboratively with the Board towards enhancing resource development activities. These include, but are not limited to: foundation giving, corporate sponsorships, individual gifts, grants, contracts, strategic alliances and the development of a board reserve fund.
· Assure strong and consistent revenue streams and build a reserve for a strong financial future.
Public Relations:
· Implements marketing plan approved by the Board;
· Establishes and strengthens working relationships with partners at the local, regional and national levels of the YWCA organization;
· Identifies and develops new partnerships with businesses, community leaders, and other non-profit organizations;
· Ensures appropriate representation, as a spokesperson, of the agency goals and objectives to community and corporate groups and other stakeholders;
· Oversees the development and production of all agency printed materials and publications in accordance with corporate identity and branding standards.
Management:
· Responsible for all of the organizational operations;
· Administers contract negotiations with various organizational vendors;
· Models, mentors and motivates staff towards achievement of the organizational vision and mission;
· Ensures appropriate planning efforts, implementation and oversight of agency programming;
· Ensures appropriateness of all job descriptions, classifications and salary ranges;
· Works collaboratively with staff towards the attainment of individual and organizational goals and objectives;
· Demonstrates integrity in all business of the YWCA, and support its mission in all aspects of the Association.
Education requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, or at least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
Qualifications:
· Understanding of the societal forces affecting women and people of color, a passion for the mission of the YWCA, and a belief that the YWCA should and could make a difference in changing women’s lives and spearheading racial justice;
· Demonstrated commitment to women, children and family services through previous work as a professional or volunteer leader in human services or a related field;
· Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate staff, and to create a positive work environment;
· Superb skills in fiscal programs and business management in an organization with a range of programs and services;
· Strong computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, donor software programs (i.e., Donor Perfect) and email systems
· Proven track record in presenting and marketing an organization to increase its recognition, utilization of its services, understanding of its mission, and broadening its advocacy agenda;
· Successful track record in major fundraising;
· Demonstrated ability as an empowering, visionary leader with the talent and the willingness to take calculated risks in forming innovative community collaborations;
· Strong verbal and written communication and listening skills.
Desired Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or other related administrative field;
· Experience working in communities of diverse cultures and socio-economic status;
· Experience managing not-for-profit organizations;
· Demonstrated commitment and/or prior educational experience related to empowerment of girls and women, and the elimination of racism;
· Demonstration of leadership, sense of vision and ability to motivate others;
· Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor and presentation;
· Integrity and an ability to maintain confidentiality;
· Strong analytical skills;
· Experience and strong ability to work with and support the Board of Directors;
· Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of community leaders, volunteers, donors and other stakeholders;
· Extensive knowledge of finance and budgeting, contract compliance and grant writing;
· Experience and knowledge of non-profit accounting and financial analysis;
· Demonstration of initiative, creativity and follow-through;
· Ability to multi-task and be in control of numerous tasks at any one time;
· Strong sense of organization and planning and able to manage time well;
· High level of energy and enthusiasm;
· Must be flexible and able to work evenings and weekends as needed. Occasional travel.
Compensation:
Negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
