KASHF RELIEF FUND
The Kashf Relief Fund was established by Kashf Foundation following the earthquake that struck the north of Pakistan. Through this fund Kashf Foundation was able to receive contributions locally and internationally.
In response to the Earthquake disaster, Kashf Foundation supported relief activities on immediate basis from funds generated locally. Donations were raised both at individual and organization level (Details as per annexure-I attached). It has also directly contributed around Rs 0.6 million (as Rs 10 per client) through its self generated income. Internally donated funds here exemplify that Kashf has the potentialities to respond against any causality immediately prior to any donor assistance.
To sustain and extend long term relief efforts in this regard, Kashf signed an agreement with Skoll Foundation. It has contributed US $50 thousand to support specific project in the recovery and rehabilitation of communities in Pakistan, for the period from November 1,2005 to October 31,2006.

Kashf Relief Teams
Kashf did not stop its efforts merely to monetary relief. It understands that the psychological scars will take even longer to heal. It was planned to provide support to volunteer-involving organizations engaged in the post-earthquake period to strengthen their capacity in light of the disaster’s magnitude. So teams of volunteers were sent to earthquake struck areas for need assessment and assistance to Sungi staff in earthquake recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
1. On immediate basis, small groups were made. The underlying purpose was to visit hospitals in Lahore to facilitate earthquake victims in identifying dispersed families by gathering data to maintain victims’ database. Teams sympathizing with victims also helped in relieving them from the trauma and stress of disaster.
2. Roshaneh Zafar, Managing director of Kashf herself went to Balakot (one of the worst hit towns in Northern Pakistan) accompanied by two female colleagues from kashf, namely Ayesha Nawaz & Dana Tikdi to distribute goods and spend time among the affected children of earth quake.
3. Earthquake relief teams visited Mansehra and Bagh as to provide assistance and need assessment. First team comprised of two female members (Shahla Sattar , Assistant Manager Finance and Farzana Sardar , Programme Associate GESA) and three male members (Ejaz Ahmad, Ejaz and Naveed Abbas -Trainee Loan Officers) sent to Mansehra for 10 days who really did a great job by joining Sungi teams for preliminary damage and needs assessment.
Summary
Although it will take months, even years, to rebuild the areas that has suffered so much damage. Swift and appropriate relief efforts undertaken can minimize the impact of the disaster and prevent further tragic loss of life. The task is ongoing one and all kinds of assistance will be required for a long time to come.
Kashf has performed its social responsibility well by its active involvement in relief activities. It has focused all the efforts to reduce human sufferings by its donations. Presently it is working towards rehabilitation and reconstruction for earthquake victims.
