Parent Group – Kate File
Ms. File reported that the parent group has not meet since the last Board meeting and therefore did not have much to report. She did share some information with the Board that has be conveyed to her from other parents:
· April fool’s day “prank” was a success- thanks to all who participated. Teachers loved their morning free time
· The consensus from folks visiting the school at the open house on the 7th was an overwhelming feeling of family in our school.
· The color run will take place on August 27th 2016 at Riverbend School and along the river trail. The cost is much less for this venue and hopefully more convenient for families. The activity is already on the “Southeast Road Runners” calendar and fundraising will begin very soon!
· Families are encouraged to use apps like Shoparoo and amazon smile as ways to help earn extra cash for our school! Check them out!!
· Ms. File encouraged the Board to continue to prayerfully work through the changes that need to be made to our Middle School so that we can be the 1st choice for families, instead of public school.
Additional information –Bobbie Epperly
· Ms. Epperly requested information from the Board as to what the needs of the school are, and what needs to be targeted with the funds raised by the color run in August. The Board outlined the following needs:
1. Continuing to update desks (one class is done, a few more to go)
2. Overhead projectors for some classrooms
3. Updated technology
· We will be advertising more on Facebook; we received over 3000 “hits” from the event posted for the open house.
· Bartlett Art Show: Feel free to have your child send in their best masterpiece! Ms. Epperly will pick up all of the entrees on April 22, 2016 from your child’s teacher. The Hospital Board will pick their favorites and they will be displayed Bartlett Reginal Hospital. This is a WONDERFUL opportunity for our school to shine in a very public place!
Review meeting minutes from February 9, 2016:
In a motion duly made by Heidi Boucher and seconded by Janet Conniff, with unanimous consent, it was resolved to accept the meeting minutes.
Treasurer's report-Kim Lanz:
· It was decided that the firm of L.G Rayfield & Mertz would handle most of the fiscal responsibilities for the school. Things such as taxes, CBJ filings and payroll taxes.
· Ms. Lanz provided a brief overview of the 2016-2017 budget. The Board will revisit this topic in more depth at its June meeting.
· Ms. Lanz will report back to the Board within a week of this meeting regarding the information for CBJ, business license and a meeting date with a representative from L.G. Rayfield and Mertz
Head Teacher's report- Janet Conniff:
· Ms. Conniff reported that the staff has met 3 times since the Boards last meeting.
· The staff is prayerfully looking to the next school year.
· The staff was pleased with the amount of interest of new families at the open house.
· The staff has decided that the school will continue with teaching Singapore Math
· A schedule for next year is currently being worked on by Ms. Conniff, Staff and Board members as changes are emanate. This information will be communicated to parents just as soon as it in finalized.
Old Business:
· The Board decided that they would like to add the Pre-K class back onto the schedule for the 2016-2017 school years, and that a teacher would need to be added for that purpose.
In a motion duly made by Dawn Hannasch and seconded by Joel Mitchell, with unanimous consent, it was resolved that Heidi Boucher and Janet Conniff would make an offer of employment as stated by the Board in Executive Session.
· The Board read through the information that was emailed by 5 parents regarding what items they would like to see offered at FCCS. The Board directed Dawn Hannasch to reach out via email to all parents to provide the findings from this information and the Boards recommendations.
New Business:
· The Board will direct the PR committee that we would like to have their mark ups for the school brochure and flyer no later than May 10th.
· Past due accounts will be receiving a written letter this week. It is essential that all past due accounts are back in good standing before the end of the school year to prevent a hold on students report cards and late fees being assessed.
The Board will be meeting in a closed session on Tuesday May 10, 2016 to prepare for the town hall meeting on May 21, 2016 at 6:00. The Board will not be entertaining comments at the meeting on the 10th.
The meeting was closed in prayer by Janet Conniff and adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
Respectfully submitted
Dawn K Hannasch
