Assignment #1- Creative Character Response
For this assignment, you will select a character that you would like to interact with from the play- e.g. Prospero, Ariel, Miranda, or anyone of your choice!
First, you will use your creativity to “introduce” the class to this character (see some of the options below). Include some facts about your character. Share a favorite quote. Additionally, you will share one scene with your character (see specifics below). Second, you will have about 5-6 minutes to provide a presentation to the class where you will get to share a bit of their story & perspective.
Specifics: Be Creative! You must have some visual or artistic component. This is up to you, but here are some examples:
- A storyboard or poster
- Brochures
- Draw/paint an original picture
- Write a rap song
- Share a poem
- Create a Power Point or Prezi
How to organize it!
First, you need to describe your character. Include some facts. Be creative.
Second, you need to share at least 1 quote from your character and explain what the quote means.
Third, you will share at least one or more events/scenes from the play from the perspective of your character.
- First, set things up a bit. You need to describe at least 1 scene with your character and explain what is happening in the scene.
- Second, you need to present the character’s perspective: Next, you will try to present things from the perspective of your character. Try to inference (tell) how he/she feels about the scene and/or the situation. What do they want? How would they like the situation or events to unfold? This would be a great place to share a quote from your character.
- Third, you will need to respond from your perspective: Additionally, you will also need to tell how/why you like or dislike this character. Tell us what you think about this character and why you personally selected to talk about them in your presentation.
Assignment #2- Film Report & Critique
What film/version did you watch? Who was the director/producer? What year was it made?
Describe the setting:

Describe the main themes or lessons:
What questions did you have in response to the play? Come up with at least 3 questions.
Critique:What were your reactions to the decisions made by the director? Which ones were unique to the interpretation of the play? Did it work? Why/why not? What did you like/dislike about the set design and or special effects?
