JOB SUMMARY
To provide a high standard of care to children up to the age of five.· To provide nursery care for children in a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment
· To work as part of a team to deliver a flexible and high quality education and care service
· To ensure the welfare and safety of the children in their care
· To contribute toward the monitoring and development of the service
· To plan and implement curricular programmes in conjunction with Nursery management
MAIN DUTIES
· To create a stimulating learning environment
· To observe, share, record and report on the progress of individual children in line with College policy and procedures
· To plan, prepare, organise, display and participate in activities for children to encourage them to develop social, physical and educational skills in a safe and productive environment
· To align activities to the 3 – 5 years curriculum where appropriate
· To ensure furniture and equipment is maintained and cleaned to a satisfactory level
· To prepare snacks, supervise and care for children’s physical needs
· To respond to telephone calls pertaining to the nursery
· To attend staff meetings and in-service days for staff training as required
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Operate as a member of the unit team, offering constructive challenge, specialist advice and the highest professional standards
· Undertake projects as directed by the line manager
· Proactively collaborate with internal and external partners
· Keep abreast of current developments relevant to the department
· Actively participate in on-going training and development activity and the Personal Development Review process
· Serve on College committees, as required
· Respect the confidentiality of matters relating to other members of staff
· Exercise a duty of care for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions
· Promote and encourage Equality & Diversity in all aspects of Departmental operations
· Understand and comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act and the Freedom of Information Act
· Undertake other duties appropriate to the scope and grading of the post
