OUTLINE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. SUMMARY
Job Title / Project Officer: Employer Engagement (Ambition for Ageing)Reporting to / Programme Manager
Ambition for Ageing (AfA) responsibilities / Finding and working with employers in the private, public and voluntary sectors to provide high quality work related opportunities for people on AfA’s Working Potential project. This project seeks to support carers over the age of 50 into employment in Bolton, Salford & Wigan. Opportunities could include work place visits, structured work experience, traineeships, apprenticeships or jobs. Recording and evaluating work undertaken would be a core part of this role.
Organising workshops/event for employers, carers over 50 and coaches.
General Responsibilities / Responsible for delivery of one or more projects of varying size and complexity (e.g. from organising an event to multi-partner projects) under supervision, personally or in collaboration with a team of colleagues and partners. Responsibility includes project planning and delivery, liaising with project partners, technical support as required, reporting and evaluating; being aware of environmental changes and responding to them; being alert to funding opportunities for future work and assisting with preparation of tenders and grant applications.
Responsible, as required, for managing project delivery budgets, for reporting to funders and/or steering group; for achieving income generation targets, for co-ordinating and supporting volunteers, and colleagues working on the project(s) and managing risk.

Expected to be alert to opportunities to secure grants or contracts for GMCVO, and for the further development of current GMCVO work
May be expected to undertake short term paid consultancies.
2. ROLE/ACTIVITIES
2 / Work with carers over the age of 50 on the programme to ensure that opportunities provided are appropriate and needed.
3 / Create pathways for people on the programme designed to support them along a journey to employment.
4 / Identify employment practices which create barriers to employment for carers over the age of 50
5 / Work with individual employers to support them to develop accessible routes into employment in their organisation.
6 / Develop productive relationships with existing employers on the programme and to source new employers where there are gaps.
7 / Organise regular events which bring coaches together with employers in the top employment sectors in Bolton, Salford and Wigan.
8 / Ensure evaluation is embedded in all activities and learning shared with stakeholders
General tasks / 1 / Use the GMCVO project management approach to coordinate and deliver projects.
2 / Optimise, manage and report on project resources including finance and people.
3 / Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing partners, stakeholders and networks, and act as main point of contact.
4 / Actively promote projects and their successes and raise awareness of challenges internally and externally.
5 / Develop a strategic overview of the context in which projects are being delivered and contribute to organisational understanding of the wider operating environment
6 / Identify opportunities for further development of projects and/or new initiatives.
7 / Develop areas of knowledge and/or expertise.
GMCVO staff are required to undertake work outside their current role description as necessary to meet organisational needs.
3. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Skills, knowledge & experience required / Project Specific· Understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing businesses when employing carers.
· Understanding of the expectations of employers
· Understanding of the barriers people face when trying to access employment.
· Understanding of the steps people might need to take to progress towards employment.
· Experience of communicating with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.
· Experience of working with employers in the private sectors.
· Ability to manage workload and projects in an organised and timely fashion.
· Monitoring and evaluating activities.
· Ability to work constructively within a multiagency partnership.
· High level interpersonal skills including networking, presentation skills and political sensitivity
· Ability to present complex information in understandable formats to a high standard, for a variety of audiences
· Understanding of the needs and challenges of voluntary sector.

4. SUMMARY CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
Salary: / NJC equivalent points 28 - 31£24,964 - £27,668
Plus 7% pension contribution and Death in Service insurance
Hours of Work: / The contractual hours of work are 35 per week.
The post is eligible for flexible working in accordance with current GMCVO policies.
You may need to undertake occasional duties outside normal working hours for which time off in lieu will be given.
Holidays: / 22 days per year plus statutory Bank holidays, rising annually to a maximum of 25 days
Pension: / The post is eligible for the GMCVO non-contributory pension scheme. In addition employees may choose to make extra voluntary contributions
