It is MANDATORY that all skaters on the Canskate session wear a CSA approved hockey helmet.
It is recommended that skates be sharpened after approximately 10 times on the ice surface. Sharpening may be required more often if your child is skating on an outdoor rink surface, or walking without guards.
First Day of Group Programs.....What Happens?
The skater’s are divided up into groups according to their skill level. There may be some changes in the groups as the skater’s progress through the program. Please be patient as the coaches work to get everyone into their correct skill level. It is not uncommon for some skaters to be moved around throughout the season. Your skater will be receiving a report card at the end of December and at the end of March that will show the skills they have completed and the skills they require to achieve the next badge.
The Preschool and Canskate programs focus on the development of three fundamental movements which are organized into six stages of learning. Each stage has a primary focus and once the skills on each stage are mastered, a badge is awarded.
Fun Days for Group Programs
During our Preschool and Canskate sessions we will be having fun days and dress up days. Watch the bulletin boards and media sites for reminders. Ensure on the dress up days your child wears something they are able to skate in and can still stay warm!
