1. Venue and date:The Ninth Meeting of Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas (REMJA IX) will take place on November 28 and 29, 2012 in the city of Quito, Ecuador. The meetings will take place at theSWISSÔTEL-QUITO, located at Avenida 12 de Octubre Calle Luis Cordero ·Quito,Ecuador.

3. Hotels: The Government of Ecuador has blocked rooms at the hotel (Swissôtel) where the event will be held and at others close to it to facilitate reservations for members of delegations. Reservations should be made directly with these hotels.

All participants must make their reservations directly with the hotel of your choice, which will assign them strictly in the order in which requests are received and based on the information provided.When making your reservation, kindly state that you are participating in the Ninth Meeting of Ministers of Justice or Other Ministers or Attorneys General of the Americas (REMJA IX).Each participant must settle his or her hotel bill directly at the end of the meeting.
Kindly note that rates for additional nights, on days other than those established for the Meeting, may differ. Furthermore, the cost of telephone calls and other services must be defrayed by each guest directly.
These rates will be honored until November 5, 2012.
4.Air Transportation:It is recommended that delegates and observers reserve their round-trip flight as soon as possible, directly with the airlines or travel agencies.International flights to and from Ecuador arrive and depart from the MariscalSucreInternationalAirport (code UIO).Delegations shall pay their own air fares to Ecuador.
To enter Ecuador each participant must have a valid passport. Onlty the citizens of China, Afganistan, Bangladesh, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan and Somalia are required to have a valid visa on their passports. 5.Transportation from the Airport to the Hotel:The government of Ecuador will provide transportation service from the airport to the host hotel (Swissôtel) for all delegates, starting November 26, 2012 and from the host hotel to the airport, on November 30, 2012. Delegates arriving or departing on those dates may use these transportation services.

- Registration of participants: Registration of participants will be conducted no later than October 31, 2012, electronically through the following link:
The handing out of IDswill take place at the Swissôtel, starting on Tuesday, November 27, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and on Wednesday November 28 at 8:00 AM.Participants will be required to wear their I.D. during all sessions of REMJA IX.
- Credentials:Delegations, observers, and special guests are also asked to send their credentials through their Permanent Missions to the OAS, when appropriate, to the REMJA Technical Secretariat (Department of Legal Cooperation, OAS Secretariat for Legal Affairs) by fax: (202) 458.3598 or by email at with a copy to the National Coordination Office.
8. Languages:Simultaneous interpretation in English, Spanish, Portugues and French will be provided during all the plenary sessions of the REMJA IX.
9. Communications:There will be a Delegates’ Lounge at the Hotel (Swissôtel) where the meeting is held, with computers and Internet connection, and access to telephones for local calls.International calls and those to cell phones should be made from the hotel rooms.Each participant is responsible for paying for these calls prior to departure.
10. Currency:The currency in Ecuador is the US Dollar.Major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) are accepted in most commercial establishments.
11. Location:San Francisco de Quito, capital city of the Republic of Ecuador and PichinchaProvince, is the second largest and most populous city in Ecuador. It is also cantonal or district head of the Metropolitan District of Quito. It is approximately at coordinates 0° 13'23 "S 78° 30'45" W and its average altitude is 2800 meters above sea level.
12. Climate: Due to its location in the parallel 0, Ecuador has no defined seasons. The climate is varied and depends on the region and height of the location. However, the average temperature in Quito in November ranges from a low of 7 Celsius (55 F) at night and 26 Celsius (78 F) at noon with an average of 15 Celsius (64 F). Light clothing is recommended, accompanied with a jacket and scarf, especially for the evenings.
13. Local time:In Quito, the local time is (-5) GMT.
14. Electric Current:The electric current in Quito is 110 volts.
15. Medical Assistance:Immediate medical care services will be available at the site of the REMJA IX (Swissôtel) and an ambulance will be available for emergencies.
16.Social events: The program of social events will be available to all delegates at registration.
