Championship Tournament Request Form
We are now taking requests for 2020. Bids will be taken from the 515/641 area codes.
If no bids are received from the 515/641 area codes, then bids will open statewide!
We would like to "Sell Iowa to our Youth" and with this in mind, what is there for nearly 1400 youth bowlers and their families to do in your community? Are there activities that would bring the bowlers and their families into your community a day earlier?
The minimum number of lanes needed to be considered is 32. When there are two centers bidding together one of the centers must have AT LEAST 20 lanes. If two bids from the same City/Association/Center are received, they will be considered exactly that – 2 bids. We do not vote on the city, we vote on the center.
Your bid must be accompanied by the following items or you request will not be honored:
1.A letter from your local USBC (either YA or merged) supporting this tournament.
2.A map and list of hotels/motels and restaurants in and around the area.
3.A list of local activities.
4.A packet and /or letter from the local Chamber or Convention Bureau (they are usually very helpful in putting together a bid packet for their area and/or town.
5.If your Chamber/Convention bureau is going to add extra funds into the tournament - it must be noted on your BID sheet.
6.If the center(s) are going to add extra money to the tournament – it must be noted on your BID sheet along with how much. This money must be raised prior to the tournament starting and it will NOT include any ball raffles or 50/50 drawings during the tournament.
Please NOTE: The Chamber or Convention/Travel Bureau or your Center/Association must be willing to attend the annual convention to set up a display to "sell" your area as a potential tournament site. This will be held in Cedar Rapids on June 22, 23, & 24, 2018.
Times to “sell” your potential site are as follows:
Friday – 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Saturday – 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Sunday – 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Sunday – annual meeting starts at 12:15 pm
If your town has the winning bid you must also agree to do the following things:
1.Have available times from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. (for at least 4 or 5 weekends starting approximately April 1. (This is a must!) For small centers bidding together, we may have to start in March and go into May. We try not to bowl Easter weekend.
2.You must be willing to set up a host hotel or hotels for the duration of the tournament (Friday and Saturday evenings.
3.At the host hotel, you must also set up a complimentary room for the State Association Manager for each Friday and Saturday evening of the tournament.
4. You must be willing to provide score monitors for each shift of the tournament. The price of your bid is what the centers get paid for lineage and YOU must provide scorekeepers however you work it out (local associations, volunteers, etc.).
5.Provide office help as needed by the tournament director (they will be paid a fee each day and expense).
6.Provide an area for the State tournament Director to set up the office and a picture taking area.
The tournament can be held in two (2) houses in the same town or association OR two centers in neighboring towns. Please send the attached sheet in with your center's information and prices by the postmark deadline of May 1, 2018. (Please note: When giving the presentation at the Annual meeting of Youth Representatives you MUST NOT change any of the information that is listed on your bid sheet. You must supply only the information that was stated in the original bid which would have been received by May 1.
