Dear Parents
PTFA Sponsored Climb - Thursday24th May
In assembly this week, children found out about an exciting event happening in school on Thursday 24th May – rock climbing! This will fit in perfectly with our outdoor learning week in school.
We have arranged for a mobile rock climbing wall to be on the playground on Thursday24th May and children in every class will be invited to see how high they can climb. The wall is 8.5m high and has 6 different climbing routes for all abilities. Children will wear appropriate safety equipment and the climbing wall will be operated by specialist staff. For more information on the climbing wall, see .
Parents will be welcome to come and watch to support the children and our PTFA will be providing refreshments throughout the day. We will let you know the time slot for your child’s class once these are confirmed. Every child who takes part will receive a certificate of achievement.
This event is a fund-raiser for the PTFA, as well as providing a fun and challenging activity for children. All of the profits from the day will go to the PTFA, which is currently raising funds for the audio visual services for the new school hall. We would like to be able to install speakers, lighting and a microphone system into the new hall which will improve our facilities for class assemblies, nativities and productions. KCC are funding the construction costs of the new hall and would pay to move the present audio visual system into the new hall, but this would be completely inadequate for our needs.
We would very much appreciate your support in raising PTFA funds for this worthwhile project. We would also ask, if possible, for every child to raise a minimum of £5 in order to cover the cost of climbing wall.
Our sponsorship form is attached and we would ask that these are returned to the school office by Monday 21May. We will assume that by returning the completed form you are giving permission for your child to take part. Sponsor forms will be returned once they have been officially stamped showing that your child took part in order for the money to be collected. Please encourage your sponsors to complete the “gift aid” section in order that the PTFA can claim an additional 25%. (£20 donation with gift aid = £25 for the school).
Those of you who were part of the school in 2015 will remember that we held a similar event which was a real success, both in terms of children’s enjoyment and the amount of money raised - a staggering £3,084. We hope that this event will be just as successful.
We will keep you informed of any further information and would like to thank you in advance for your support.
Yours sincerely
Ruth Austin
