Paper Copyright Assignment Contract

Party A: (The author)

Party B: Editorial Department of BUPT Journal (English Version)

The agreements hereinafter is reached and concluded by and between Party A and Party B with regard to the assignment of paper copyright:

1.  Party A’s paper title: ______(hereinafter referred to as “the paper”)

2.  Party A guarantees his original authorship of the paper and the paper’s irrelevancy with the betraying of confidential matters and confidential scientific research project. Where infringement and betraying take place, Party A shall undertake all the responsibilities.

3.  Party A voluntarily assigns the following rights concerning the paper to Party B:

(1).Right of compilation (part of the paper or the whole)

(2).Right of translation

(3).Right of replication of the printed and electronic edition

(4).Right of communication through information network

(5).Right of distribution

4. The assigned rights hereinbefore specified in Article 3 shall not be allowed by Party A to be employed by any other person in any form, except under the conditions prescribed in Article 22, of The Copyright Law of People’s Republic of China. However, Party A may cite (or translate) part of the paper in his later work, or compile the paper in Party A’s non-periodical corpus.

5. Where Party A does not receive a notice of the contribution’s disposal from Party B within 4 months, and thereafter send a notification to the editorial department, the paper shall be at Party A’s disposal, and the contract shall terminate automatically. Where Party A receives a notice of rejection, the contract shall terminate automatically once Party A receives the notice.

6. Once the paper is first published in the CUPT Journal (English version) (in any form) compiled and published by Party B, Party B will take in one-time publication charge from Party A. Where the paper is published by Party B in any other form, no publication charge shall be collected from Party A.

7. Once the paper is first published in the BUPT Journal (English version) (in any form) compiled and published by Party B, Party B shall pay Party A one-time compensation of the contribution, and present a sample copy and (or) a separate. Where the paper is published by Party B in any other form, no compensation shall be paid.

8. This contract shall be valid from the date of its signature.

9. Any dispute arising from the matters that is not covered in this contract shall be settled through negotiation. Should no agreement be reached, the dispute in question shall then be settled in accordance with The Copyright Law of People’s Republic of China and the laws and the regulations concerned.
