Job Description for the position ofReliefTeam Leader
- You will ensure the well-being of clients and promote their development. A key component of this role is to assist clients in their physical, social, emotional and daily life skills development. This increases their independence and allows them to function appropriately in the community.
- Ensure that the policies and procedures of DHA are fully adhered to and implemented at all times by all employees and volunteers on duty. If there are breaches, report same to the Manager and/or Staff Supervisor.
- Support and assist residents in accordance with DHA's policies.
- Implement fully the reporting policies and procedures of DHA, such as handover and logbook procedures.
- Fully adhere to the confidentiality policy of DHA.
- Collect rent from residents on their paydays. Adhere to all policies and procedures with regard to the handling of cash.
- Adhere to the medication policy.
- Actively promote anti-discriminatory practices and treat all clients, fellow colleagues and visitors with respect.
- Actively promote Drogheda Homeless Aid’s Bullying and Harassment Policy and ensure that fellow colleagues are never excluded.
- Fully adhere to DHA's door and security procedures. DHA is a dry hostel and the team leader must implement the drug and alcohol policy.
- Fully adhere to DHA's health and safety policies.
- Conduct handovers every time employees come on duty. Read the log book out at handovers and be fully aware of all happenings on the previous shift.
- Be sensitive to the health of individual residents and report any changes to keyworkers.
- Motivate and assist residents in maintaining high standards of hygiene. Ensure that cleaning, laundry, kitchen, and dining room duties are completed by staff.
- The Team Leader should ensure that correct information is obtained from callers to the door and ensure that accommodation needs are addressed by liaising with the Louth and Meath homeless officers.
- Supervise all employees on duty, allocate and oversee tasks.
- Plan the working day to ensure that all employees are fully utilised, and to ensure that daily tasks are completed.
- Be responsible for and aware of all issues and occurrences on your shift and take full charge and control of the shift.
- Assist residents in the safe, efficient and effective use of all facilities in the hostel.
- Monitor stocks of food, bed linen and other supplies, and advise the manager on the adequacy of such stocks.
- Deal with any maintenance issues by allocating work to maintenance person.
- Attend team meetings with staff supervisor and resettlement team.
- The Team Leader should always ensure that normal duties are carried out when Management are not on duty.
- Undertake any other duties, which from time to time may be deemed necessary by the manager.
