Job Description
After School Activities Leader
Qualifications:1. Ability to work effectively with young people in grades 1 - 5 in a recreational/instructional setting. Enthusiasm, creativity, and patience are required. General knowledge of a variety of team sports is a plus.
2. Posses the ability to handle a variety of recreational situations including direct leadership of group activities and games, cooperation with other group leaders in leading activities, creativity for new games and flexibility to change activities if necessary.
3. Able to fill out necessary paperwork required at the program. Permission slips/accident forms.
4. Possess the ability to interact positively with co-workers and the community.
5. Available to work Monday - Friday, 3:00PM - 6:00PM.
6. Reliable transportation, prompt and dependable.
7. CPR/First Aid required.
8. Possess the ability to handle a variety of program demands and pressures with limited direction.
9. Must be at least 17 yrs.
10. Possess communication skills when interacting with school staff and parents.
Reports to: Recreation Director and Recreation Coordinator
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Maintain an understanding of the Auburn Hills After School Activities program and be able to explain the program to the community.
2. Lead daily group activities and maintain constant supervision of children before, during and after activities until all children are picked up from the program.
3. Maintain constant communication with the Recreation Director Recreation Coordinator & After School Activities Supervisor, giving feedback on the program and informing of any and all problems that may occur.
4. Participate in staff meetings, prepare and update attendance sheets, permission slips, accident reports.
5. Monitor all After School Activities supplies, first aid kit, and equipment.
6. Perform all other applicable duties as assigned by the Recreation Director and Recreation Coordinator.
7. Ability to perform conflict resolution with the kids as well as staff.
8. Ability to possess an open-mind and acceptance of all students and staff.
9. Ability to take charge and discipline when necessary to ensure the safety of the students and staff.
