Dear 3rd and 4th Grade Boys Lacrosse Families,
Registration is now open for Spring 2017 Lacrosse!
We are excited to inform you about some changes in the 3rd and 4th grade Boys Lacrosse Program for this spring. These changes are being made to improve the experience for the player as well as focusing on improving stick skills through small games and maximum touches with the ball. This new design will allow the younger players to focus more time on learning to play lacrosse and minimize the driving and time commitment on the families.
New this season, the 3rd and 4th grade boys will play together on balanced teams in a multi-grade age group. The season will run approximately 8 weeks from early April - early June. For the first half of the season, 3rd and 4th grade boys will play their games in town focusing on fundamentals, allowing them to develop their movement ABCs- agility, balance, coordination and speed—and learn the basics of the game while emphasizing fun, cooperation, and maximum touches with the ball. This age group will practice 2x a week and have games on Sundays 9:00 - 10:30 at Sprague Fields. For the in town portion, they will be divided into teams playing games against each other culminating in a playoff tournament with a Champion. For the second half of the season, the teams will play other teams in the MBYLL.
During the second half of the season, games will be played on Sundays throughout the day. There will be some travel involved for away games but it will be minimized. The 3rd/4th grade boys will participate in the one-day jamboree in Fort Devens, MA, the NCAA Championships at Gillette Stadium in the end of May, and a tournament at Babson College in mid-June.
Registration is now open and closes on December 18th. After December 18th, you will be charged a $50 late fee and will not be guaranteed a place on a team. Please register online at www.wellesleylacrosse.org. During the registration process, each player will automatically be directed to register with MBYLL to get the player's US Lacrosse number. You are required to have a valid US Lacrosse number to participate.
Questions should be emailed to age group coordinators - 3rd Grade- Ben Heyworth,
4th Grade - Christian Brennan, and general questions to Jerry Nigro.
Here’s to a great season!
