City, State— Each season of the year has unique fire and electrical safety dangers that are related to common seasonal activities. With that in mind, the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) developed the 4 Seasonsof Safetycampaign toeducate the public about basic fire and electricity concepts and provide critical information to help children identify and prevent fire and electrical safety hazards.[Insert Company/Organization Name] has partnered with ESFI to promote this important message.

The multi-faceted campaign features an in-school component developed in accordance with national standards, with safety tips, lessons and activities for children in grades 3-5. “Targeting school-aged children not only fosters safe practices at an early age, but also reinforce safety messages for their parents and the entire family,” said ESFI President Brett Brenner.

ESFI also engagesin outreach to educate the public at large about how to recognize and avoid season-specific safety hazards.During the holidays, ESFI’s campaign encourages families and communities across the country to make safety a tradition. With nearly half of home fires occurring in December, January, and February, ESFI encourages Wrapping up the Holidays during the first week of January to avoid electrical holiday decorating fires.

Additionally, the National Fire Protection Association estimates that heating equipment caused 54,030home fires and caused 480deaths between 2011and 2015. Warm up to Safety this Winter focuses specifically on space heaters, smoke alarms, and safe heating practices for children in grades 3-5. The program also includes a valuable Family Information Sheet with Smoke Alarm Maintenance Calendar that fosters vital safety practices for the entire family.

ESFI’s online Kids’ Corner reinforces electrical safety concepts through animated videos and games.Other free online resources from ESFI include important safety devices such asGround Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) and Tamper Resistant Receptacles (TRRs).
