MESSENGER

April 2017

Pastor’s Corner

Dear Church Family,

Spring is here and with it comes spring showers-- and May flowers! This makes me think of the "shower of blessings" each of us experience every day of our lives. I hope all of us remember to count our blessings. . . name them one by one.

Easter Sunday morning is fast approaching. We have many wonderful things going on this month. The children are preparing for our annual community Easter Egg Hunt at Shivers Park. And the youth are diligently raising money for summer camp at Bluelake. The choir is working on a beautiful Easter message for Easter Sunday morning. The food give-a-way will be this coming Saturday morning-- what a blessing for so many! Lenten lunches with special speakers all week (10th-14th).All of this plus our continued Disciple classes and Lectio Divina sessions.

My prayer is that during the season of Lent we have established a time to sit with the Lord and listen. Just listen. Listen for His encouragement, His guidance, His instruction. And as we do this may our hearts be open to receive--to receive His love, His joy, His forgiveness, His love.

As Christians with a growing faith may we always be attuned to our Savior's instruction through the reading and praying of Holy Scripture. May we be forever grateful for God's great gift of love to us ....His Son...Jesus the Christ. Glory be to God! May our hearts be filled to overflowing with Alleluia's to Christ our Lord!

John 3:16 " For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Let us say, "Thank you Jesus!"

Easter blessings,

Dr. Bruner

April 2017

Well, we are fast approaching the Summer season and things are coming faster and faster. In just a couple of weeks we will be celebrating the death, burial, and RESSURECTION of our Savior Jesus Christ. I want to encourage each and every person to slow down during this season of Easter and really think about what it means in the big picture for this world that we live in. That is HOPE!

As, I mentioned things are moving fast. We are coming up on graduation and then Summer vacation. Then we come to the real fun of Summer Camp. I want to ask everyone to start praying for all the youth that are committed to going to camp and for those that are not. God has a plan for each and every one of the youth and we are so blessed to have a small part in their growth as Christians.

In closing I would like to thank all the volunteers and all the cooks that come and serve us dinner on Wednesday nights. You ladies and gentlemen are awesome! Keep the Youth Ministry in your prayers as we move forward also keep our Pastor, Staff, and Leadership as well. Thank you again for all that you do.

In Christ,

Michael Woodard

Children’s Ministry

Hallelujah! He is Risen! Joy and Peace throughout the land. Our King is Alive! These are the words we should be reminded of daily as we celebrate this Easter Season as well as our daily lives as followers of Jesus Christ.

Upstairs is busy, as we are finishing up the painting and rearranging of the Children’s and Youth Departments. We now have three classrooms for our kids. Revive, taught by Mindy and Craig Johnson is for Pre-K thru 2nd grade. Renew is a new classroom set up for 3rd thru 5th grade taught by me. Reclaim is the Youth 6th thru 12th grade taught by Michael Woodard. Also, we have moved the shelf from the hallway and created a Library in one of the spare rooms. We named it the “Wesley Library”. You are welcome to come upstairs and see all of our progress!

Wednesday, April 12th is the Community Easter Egg Hunt at Shivers Park from 5:30-7:30pm. The Youth and Children’s Department will have a booth set up, handing out bottled water and Shepherd’s Trail Mix. Stop by and help us get to know our Community.

In Joyful Service,

Kay Woodard
