Quinn Acoustics and the Environment
The engineers at Quinn Acoustics strive to make products that are as environmentally friendly and practical.
Products built by Quinn Acoustics utilize a high-yield design – which means we make efficient use of parts and materials. Time, money, and materials that would go into unnecessary features are, instead, applied to higher quality parts and components.
Secondly, all Quinn Acoustics products are 100% ROHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant—adhering to strict standards set to reduce or eliminate the use of hazardous substances.
Finally, all packaging boxes are made from a high percentage of recycled materials. The use of styrofoam and other potentially harmful packaging products is avoided.
To make sure your new subwoofer performs its best, we strongly recommend you have your new Quinn loudspeakers installed by a professional.
!! Please use your new Quinn loudspeakers responsibly. Listening to very loud music for extended periods of time can cause permanent hearing loss.
Q SERIES SUBWOOFER FEATURES:
· Glossy Black IMPP Cone with Symmetrical Geometric Cone Design – increases the stiffness of the cone for less harmonic distortion as well as high strength, durability, and stability during high power operation at extreme temperatures
· Butyl Rubber Surround – has superior damping characteristics and will last longer than foam surrounds
· Double Stacked Magnet Assembly – combined with a long wiring width of voice coil allows for long excursions with reduced distortion
· KaptonÒ Voice Coil Former – offers higher power handling than aluminum voice coil formers and extremely efficient cooling properties.
· 4 Layer Voice Coil – keeps more wire in the magnetic gap for more output.
· Vented, Extended Pole Piece – keeps the voice coil cool during long excursions at high power.

III. Installation- Sealed Enclosures
Sealed enclosures provide excellent performance with Q Series Subwoofers. They are the simplest enclosures to design and build, and provide the most control over the subwoofer’s performance. This type of box is usually associated with smooth, tight clean bass. Remember to glue and screw all joints, using enough glue to make sure all joints are airtight. Loosely fill the enclosure with fiberglass, poly-fill, or cotton damping material.

IV. Installation- Ported Enclosures
Ported enclosures use a tuned vent to get additional output at the tuning frequency that is usually good for an additional 3dB of bass if built properly. Using a smaller port than recommended may cause noise from air turbulence whereas too large of a port will not offer enough control over the woofer and can cause premature failure. If you do build a ported box, Quinn recommends using flared ports as they produce less turbulence and noise. Remember to glue and screw all joints, using enough glue to make sure all joints are airtight.
Note: Make sure there is at least 2” between the end of the port and the adjacent wall of the enclosure.

V. Wiring Options
!!There are many ways to wire multiple subwoofers together in order to maximize an amplifier’s output. Please check your amplifier manufacturer’s specifications to verify your amplifier’s capability before attempting these configurations. Using a lower-than-recommended impedance on your amplifier can damage the amplifier and subwoofer.
