Acer e Fourier: transform your netbook in a lab
Manno, November 2010–A new partners joins Acer in its education project with European Schoolnet. This is Fourier Systems, world-renowned Israeli company specialized in the development of science teaching solutions worldwide. Objective of the partnership? Bringing together science and technology in the classroom.
Students and teachers will be able to carry out scientific experiments, collect data and analyze them. It will be possible to examine and investigate phenomena such as the effect of light on photosynthesis or global warming and acid rain. All this thanks to a special software capable of simulating a virtual physics lab.
The software, installed on Acer netbooks will be tested in 12 classes from the project Acer EUN with the ultimate goal of strengthening and promoting science education in schools. Acer is the organizer and facilitator of a program offering an innovative combination of science and learning that starts and develops with technology and will address scientific activities in a completely new and exciting way.
"Technology helps to overcome the physical limitations which do not allow, in certain situations, equal opportunities and this aspect is even more evidentin schools," said Emanuele Accolla, Acer EMEA Vice President of EducationalBusiness. "This is certainly another essential aspect of the solution offered by Acer and Fourier: giving schools, even those without a lab, the opportunity to conduct experiments and analysis in an equally accurate and challenging way simplyby transforming a netbook into a lab."
This is just another piece of Acer commitment to Education. Fourier Systems joining the project will help enhance the solutionspecifically designed for schools and complete of hardware and software, and will provide the opportunity to develop new educational prospects.
"We are excited to be an integral part of this pilot project and bringing a complete science solution to the classroom. Fourier is a leader in computerizing the science classroom with various applications and platforms that enhance learning. The Acer-Schoolnet Netbook Initiative seeks to explore many of the same pedagogic values that Fourier promotes and encourages. Fourier, Acer and European Schoolnet are ideal partners for furthering these principles and deepening our understanding of hands-on science exploration," said Mr. Ken Zwiebel, Fourier Vice-President of Business Development.
