School Pictures Are This Tuesday! Students Must Wear Their Uniforms for This Picture

SCHOOL PICTURES ARE THIS TUESDAY! STUDENTS MUST WEAR THEIR UNIFORMS FOR THIS PICTURE.

INFORMATION WILL BE SENT HOME TUESDAY ABOUT A WONDERFUL FUND RAISING OPPORTUNITY CALLED READ-A-THON. Every student is encouraged to get at LEAST 3 sponsors. Homework passes will be rewarded to all students who meet this goal. I'm asking everyone to please participate in this school fund raiser.

This site will be updated weekly. You can also join remind 101. The remind 101 will be texted out when there is a change of schedule or an important event coming up. I will not send out daily homework reminders. Homework for each class will be written on the board. All students need to write this down each day.

This week begins a new nine weeks' grading period. Report cards will be sent home on Thursday, October 13th.

Reading -This week, we will completeour first chapter book. We are readingManiac Mageeby Jerry Spinelli. This week, we will read chapters 40 -46.This a wonderful book that deals with acceptance of people regardless of education, socioeconomics, or race. Our focus skills this week will be character traits and comparing/contrasting. We will have a quiz on those skills Wednesday. We will have a G2 comprehension test on chapters 40 - 46 on Friday, October 14th.

OnTuesday, October 4th, the students weregivennew vocabulary workshop story with the vocabulary from the story (unit 5). We will practice the words, definitions, synonyms and antonyms daily. On Tuesday, October 12th, we will have a G1 fill in the blank assessment and on Friday, October 14th, we will have a G2 test on these words.

We are beginning new STAR tests for this nine weeks' period. As soon as tests are complete, new goals will be assigned. You'll be notified of the new goal by Tuesday, October 18th.

This week, we will vote on literature circle books. Information will be sent home soon on the literature circle project for the second nine weeks of school.

English -On Tuesday, October 11th, we will have a G2 test on Chapter 5. On Thursday, we will begin chapter 6 and begin a new writing piece.

Spelling - Our words this week are: cellar, flavor, cougar, chapter, mayor, anger, senator, passenger, major, popular, tractor, thunder, pillar, border, calendar, quarter, lunar, proper, elevator, bitter, stellar, clamor, tremor, circular, and advisor. The weekly spelling assignments will be: Monday- 3x each, Tuesday- spelling worksheet, Wednesday- spelling 10 sentences (sentences MUST be at least 7 words long) and study. We will have our regular spelling test on Thursday, and we will have a dictation test on Friday.
