Develop mutual understanding of goals and cultures / 1. I think it will be essential for me to create an environment that fosters discussion among practitioners and administration. The environment will have to be a place where all participants will feel safe to express their opinions. This will be an essential first step in developing an ongoing relationship among the knowledge users.
2. It will be important for the practitioners and administrators to understand one another’s goals, so that they can they develop a shared goal. / 1. Introduce the role of a KB to the director of the county early intervention program, agency directors and individual physical therapists. Explain, the various roles that the KB can fulfill.
2. Determine if a culture of learning/research exists at the county level.
3. Determine if a culture of learning/research exists at the agency level.
4. Cultivate/foster a culture of learning.
5. Establish the goals of the early intervention director.

Collaborate with knowledge users and producers / 1. I am not sure if in the initial stage of my KB role I will collaborate with knowledge producers. Down the road, I see this as a valuable experience and opportunity to be the link between the researcher and practitioner. / 1. Create an atmosphere, a culture where questioning is valued and encouraged.
2. Create a sense of curiosity & motivation to seek out a new resource or intervention for a child/family.
3. To have PTs reflect on the effectiveness of their interventions.
4. Facilitate discussion, exploration and curiosity among the members of the group
5. Build the capacity of the group to formulate a question or a topic for exploration, i.e. an assessment tool, treatment approach, theoretical foundation, case study

Facilitate the identification, access, assessment, interpretation and translation of evidence into policy & practice / 1. This is important so that I can effectively and accurately present the information to members of a CoP.

Facilitate the management of information and knowledge / Facilitators of knowledge transfer in the practice environment. Barriers of knowledge transfer in the practice environment / A tool that can be used by both the physical therapists and administration that will allow them to focus and reflect on the practice environment. / Fall 2017

My central role as a knowledge broker is to support the process of knowledge use among physical therapists practicing in early intervention. Supporting the movement of physical therapists from initial awareness of new research finding to changes in practice behaviors will require the implementation of varying assessment tools and strategies. The assessments and approaches will be tailored to fit the characteristics of the practice environments, practitioner and knowledge.
