Human Body System WebQuest

Overview

Objective: In this lesson the student will discover and understand how the major body systems work together to keep our body healthy and living.Students will also explain and evaluate one of the major body systems functions and tell why it is important.

Introduction

Our body is an amazing!It has several systems of organs that work together in order to keep us alive. These systems are essentialfor our survival. If one of our body systems is not working correctly or is injured, it affects the other body systems in many of ways.You will be researching one ofthe following six major body systems. They are:

Digestive system

  • Respiratory system
  • Circulatory system

Skeletal system

Muscular system

Nervous system

Process

The class will be separated into groups of 5. Each of the group members will have a job to do in order to get your presentation completed. A compiled listing of resources to help get you started is included. You should use them first and then ask your teacher before searching elsewhere on the Internet. The following are the job titles.

Job Descriptions

The doctor will research to find any disorders, diseases or illnesses that usually affect your body system. Also, include what treatment is used for these illnesses.

The integrator will research your body system in order to determine how your system interacts with the other body systems we are studying.

The director will research to find the major organs of your system and what their functionsare in the human body. He or she will also provide anillustration of your body system with its major organs labeled.

The comedian will research to find 10 -12 fun facts about your body system. The comedian will also help others as needed when his job is completed.

Evaluation

1. You will be evaluated according to how well you work with your team in gathering information both in books and on the computer.

2. You will be evaluated according to how well your team works together in the final presentation.

  • Have you practiced?
  • Are you respectful of one another?
  • Is everyone participating?

3. You will also be evaluated according to your final product.

  • Is your work neat?
  • Are your posters well done and readable?
  • Have you been creative in your presentation?
  • Do you have accurate information?

4. As you can see you will be evaluated both on your own work and how well you work with your team members.
