The World's Great BuildingsGlobal I Quarter Project

Objectives

  • Use the internet to locate information about four "Great Buildings" of the ancient world up to the year 622 A.D.
  • Analyze data to compare and contrast the types of "Great Buildings."
  • Draw or print out a picture of each of your buildings
  • Create a map showing the location of the "Great Buildings” selected.
  • Create a timeline for all the "Great Buildings" you have researched

Procedure

1. Go to one of the following websites: or find one of your own that provides information on historical buildings. You must document the use of all websites or any other information sources. You must use in-text citations and include a reference page.You may not use Wikipedia as one of your sources.

2. Select a total of 4 "great buildings" constructed up until 622 A.D. Select no more than 2 buildings from a single continent (example: 2 buildings from Europe, 1 building from Africa, 1 building from Asia). 25 points will be deducted from the project if a building is selected that does not meet these requirements.

3. Create a written report that compares and contrasts the 4 buildings. The report must be typed, 12 font, double-spaced, and be between 300 and 500 words. Write about the purpose of each structure, its history and its builder.

4. On a world map, show the location of each of your buildings. Draw or find online a picture of each of your buildings. Don’t forget to document the source of all pictures and maps.

5. Create a timeline for each building you have researched, showing when each was constructed and the important historical events of the time that relate in some way to that building. Your timelines should each have at least 5 entries.

6. The various parts of your project should be submitted in the following order:

1. the 300-500 word report

2. the map

3. the pictures of your buildings

4. your 4 timelines (one for each building)
