Information about the accommodation facilities at College of Nyíregyháza
Exchange students are offered one possibility of accommodation at College of Nyíregyháza:
Sandra Student Hostel- 25.500 HUF/month
A deposit of 5000 HUF/semester will be collected from the students on arrival. This amount is returned when the student leaves the hostel or withheld if any damage was done in the rooms or in the common areas.
Method of payment: cash in HUF only (1EUR is ~ 300 HUF).
The accommodation fee has to be paid for 5 months (one whole semester) even if the student stays for a shorter period.
Useful information about the Sandra Student Hostel
Sandra Student Hostel is a newly built accommodation facility for the students who study at College of Nyíregyháza. It is a six floor modern building with lots of shops and services in it.
The rooms at the hostels are double-bedded with a shower, fridge, heater/cooler, desk and a wardrobe. Please, make sure you leave the key to the wardrobe in the room! The rooms have free internet and cable TV services (you have to buy the cables for yourselves).
In Sandra Hostel every room has a separate kitchen. Basic dishes are provided by the International Relations Center, which must be returned when leaving Hungary.
There is a communal washing machine in the basement of both hostels, which works with HUF coins. In Sandra the price of a washing and drying is 300 HUF each.
In Sandra Hostel the bed linens are changed every two weeks by the cleaners. You must leave the bed linen in the room when leaving the country.
The ironing board and vacuum cleaner can be borrowed from the reception of the hostel, but the International Relations Center also provides the foreign students with these household utensils.
In Sandra Hostel the rooms are cleaned every two days, so these kind of utensils are not necessary for those who will live there.
Another possibility of accommodation is offered but only as an alternative:

The Rules and Regulations of the Student Hostels
1. According to the rules of coexistence, the members of the hostel must not disturb others in their work, rest or recreation.
2. Before 7:00am and after 10:00pm noisy and overbearing behaviour is FORBIDDEN.
3. When entering the building, the student has to show his/her hostel card (which is the same as the door opener card) without any special request from the receptionist. In Sandra Student Hostel there’s also a key connected to the door opener card. This card must always be left at the reception of the hostel when leaving the building because it’s fragile and it can easily break! Be careful not to lose your card, because you will have to pay for its replacement.
4. Each student who stays at the hostels must pay a 5.000 HUF deposit per semester. This amount is returned when the student leaves the hostel or withheld if any damage was done in the rooms or in the common areas or in case the student leaves the room untidy and dirty.
5. The accommodation fee for the exchange students is 25.500 HUF per month at the Sandra Student Hostel and 25.000 HUF at Campus Student Hostel. The accommodation fee has to be paid for 5 months (one whole semester) even if the student stays for a shorter period.Method of payment: cash in HUF only (1 EUR is ~ 300 HUF ) in one amount.
6. The internet connection, cable TV service and the use of the fridge is included in the accommodation fee. In Sandra Hostel the cleaning of the rooms and the corridors is every other day.
7. Moving out or changing rooms is only possible if the student asks in writing. The last student to leave has the responsibility to hand over the room cleaned and in its original state.
8. Visitors and guests from outside (including students who don’t stay at the hostel) are allowed in the hostel between 7:00am and 10:00pm on the host student’s responsibility.
9. The guests have to leave their Identity Card at the reception of the hostel. They will be given an entrance card with which they can freely move around within the hostel.
10. The student must keep his/her room in a state that complies with the hygienic and esthetical requirements. The cleanness of the corridors and communal areas are regularly checked. Violation of the rules can imply a disciplinary procedure and the student will have to pay for the damages. Once a month there’s a room cleaning and at the same time the rooms will be checked.For Sandra Hostel see no. 6. above.
11. In Sandra Hostel rearranging the rooms is forbidden!
12. All items of the hostel are communal property and the protection of these belongings is the personal responsibility of each student.
13. It is FORBIDDEN to stick or nail on the walls, doors and windows. Those who do so will have to repair the damage on their own expense.
14. The communal items and appliances can be removed or taken away with special permission.
15. The failure or breakdown of any item or appliance needs to be reported to the International Relations Center immediately. The staff will then forward the information to the receptionist of the hostel, who will register the problem.
16. The student must comply with the fire and accident protection rules and energy saving regulations.
17. In Sandra Hostel, DO NOT TOUCH the special smoke alarmsor do not throw anything to them, because they automatically will switch on and water will start flowing not only in the room, but on the whole floor of the building. Be aware that it is very expensive to repair the damages!
18. Smoking in the rooms or on the corridors of the hostel is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN. Smoking is allowed only outside the building in the designated areas.The management of the hostel has the right to check your room at any time.
19. Violation of the rules and regulations of the student hostel will imply disciplinary procedures. In case of such procedure immediate expulsion will be applied. The management of the hostel will give 12 hours to the student to leave the accommodation. The International Relations Center cannot provide the foreign students with any other accommodation!
In Hungary it’s difficult to rent accommodation privately for such a short period.
20. Each student will have to prepare a list of the personal electric and household devices which they have to hand over to the InternationalRelationsCenter.
