What types of aid areavailable?
As a graduate student, you will be considered for Federal Unsubsidized Direct Stafford Loans when you apply for graduate student aid. You may also apply separately for alternative loan programs, including the Federal Grad PLUS Loan and loans through private lenders. If you borrowed to pay for your undergraduate degree and you wish to defer your loans while enrolled in the MAC program, contact the Office of the Registrar at 734.764.6280.Because of the program’s intensity, Federal Work Study employment will not be offered to you as a resource in your financial aid package. You will automatically be considered for scholarship support from the School of Education (no application is necessary).
How to apply for and receive federal financial aid?
To apply for federal financial aid you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), found online at You will need to use Title IV code 002325. You will receive an email from the Office of Financial Aid when your award is available to view on Wolverine Access.
- To apply for and receive summer 2018 aid (ELMAC and SecMAC students), you must complete the
2017-2018 FAFSA by June 30, 2018.
- To apply for and receive fall/winter 2018-2019 aid, you must complete the 2018-2019 FAFSA. The priority deadline for completing this application is April 30, 2018.
- You will not need to apply for spring 2019 aid, the Office of Financial Aid(OFA) will automatically package you with federal loans.
- You will not need to apply for summer 2019 (if you are an ELMAC student pursuing your English as a Second Language Endorsement), the OFA will automatically package you with federal loans.
- We highly recommend that you begin applying for aid (for both academic years) shortly after you have been admitted to our program.
- To receive federal aid in any semester, you must register for classes according to your academic program requirements and you must enroll half-time as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
