FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT HATFIELD’S RENOVATIONS

Q: Why are we moving to Pennfield Middle School for the 2014 – 2015 school year?

A: As a result of the unique circular structure of the Hatfield Elementary building, it is recognized that a construction project with students in the building and accessing the facility will be increasingly difficult and intrusive to the instructional integrity of the elementary program.

Q: Where will the Hatfield classrooms be at Pennfield?

A: The Hatfield classrooms will be held in the existing modulars as well as new modular classrooms that will be used exclusively by Hatfield students.

Q: How safe will my child(ren) be there?

A: Hatfield Elementary will have its own separate, locked entrance, and we will continue to use the Raptor system for visitors. Students will only enter the main building for library, PE, and lunch and at those times will be escorted by Hatfield staff members using a swipe card to gain access. Pennfield security will be visible in both buildings and Hatfield Township Police will continue to help monitor the safety of our building as well.

Q: When my child is escorted through the main building for lunch, PE, and library, will middle school students be in the hallways?

A: No. Dr. Waters and Dr. Galloway of Pennfield met regarding the bell schedules, and at no time will middle school students change classes when Hatfield students are in the hallways.

Q: Will my child(ren) still have recess?

A: Yes. North Penn’s Facilities Department will be moving recess equipment over to Pennfield so students will have familiar playground equipment!

Q: Will Home & School still have evening activities?

A: Yes. Many of our fun evening events will be held at Pennfield next school year!

Q: Will my child(ren) still have assemblies/programs?

A: Yes. We will coordinate with Pennfield Middle School to schedule assemblies/programs in their auditorium.

Q: How will arrival and dismissal work?

A: Separate bell times will be maintained for the elementary and middle school students to ease entry and dismissal procedures. Additionally, Hatfield will have a dedicated car and bus lane. Our current walking and busing zones will be the same, and our crossing guard will be relocated to the corner of Elroy and Fairgrounds Roads.
