Project Progress

Where we've got to, where we are going

  • Wrap up Advanced Cropping Systems
  • Query Fuel use mapping
  • Update Precision viticulture
  • Update Assessing crop loss
  • Update MAF Climate Change (with FAR)

Looking forward

  • New Projects
  • SFF<$25k applications
  • We must be organised much, much earlier for these
  • Do we have ideas?
  • Lindsay has a Good Agriclutural Practice NZ GAP we may collaborate on
  • What next with Ruataniwha/Wairarapa irrigation and intensification?
  • Hugh suggests we focus energy on a better bid next October and don’t confuse with a small application now.
  • Nick Pykehas concerns (we share) around setting of nutrient limits
  • Will Burrett, Fonterra Commercial Projects Manager, very strong supporter
  • Mike Scarsbrook, Dairy NZ supported initial application
  • Mr Apple supported initial application
  • HBRC and Greater Wellington supported initial application with cash
  • How to we keep active in other regions where we have growing membership support?
  • SFF project: Assessing cost of crop loss can send me to Auckland etc.
  • Climate Change workshops (Diana and Dan) will lift visibility, and much of that is promoting good soils and water management and reminding people of opportunities we already know.

Annual General Meeting

May be another Board meeting before conference and AGM?

Board elections

  • David Clark, Scott Lawson and Bruce Searle terms end in 2012
  • Chris Perley no longer Regional Council, Brendan Powell has been substitute until 2012
  • Hew Dalrymple, Hugh Ritchie, Chris Butler and Mike Flynn three year terms end 2014
  • Should we be planning a new intake, if so who from where?
