Select the dropdown arrow next to NOLIJ:
Choose “Open User’s Guide”
The User’s Guide opens in another tab. The document is a searchable PDF.
To close the User’s Guide, close the tab by clicking on the red “X” on the tab:
To leave the User’s Guide open, but return to NolijWeb, click on the Nolij Web 6 tab:
Login – Version 5
Version 5: Double click the “Nolij Web” icon which in normally found on the desktop:
. The system displays the login screen:
Enter your ONID and password. Press “Enter” or click on “Connect”.
If you have multiple roles the system displays a popup from which you may select your role:
The system displays the user’s normal NolijWeb desktop.
Login – Version 6
Version 6: In your favorite internet browser, find the following URL:
. The system will display the login screen:
Enter your ONID and Password. Press “Enter” or click on “Log in”. The system displays the desktop for your “default” role. To change roles see “Roles – Choose a Role” later in this document.

Roles – Choose a Role
Version 5: For users with multiple roles, the system displays the “Select Role” popup during login:
The list may be sorted in ascending or descending order by either role name or department name by clicking, or double clicking, on the column title. The user may also move to another location in the list by typing the first letter of a role name. For example, if the user types an “e”, the system will move to the role names beginning with “E”.
To change roles, the user must logout and back in again, selecting the desired role during login.
Version 6: For users with multiple roles, the system automatically opens the user’s default role. In order to select another, click on the “Role Identifier” dropdown, scroll to the desired role, and choose it by clicking on it:
To change roles, the user simply reopens the “Role Identifier” dropdown and selects a different role.
Desktop View – Horizontal
Version 6: Click on the “Preferences” dropdown. Then hover over “View Options”, and click on “Horizontal”:

Version 6: Click on the “Preferences” dropdown. Then hover over “View Options”, and click on “Vertical”:

Form – Open Form
Version 5: Place the cursor on the lowest margin of the image viewing area. The pointer changes to a double pointed arrow:
Resize the form window by dragging the line up (during the drag the system changes the double pointed arrow to a frame resizer):
Version 6: Open the Form:
Resize the form window by dragging the top margin:
Detach the form:
It may then be dragged to anywhere within the Nolij Screen. It may also be resized.
Re-attach the form:
Close the form:

Show/Hide Query Results
Version 5: If “Show Query Results” is turned on, the results for each query are appended to whatever is already in the Query Results list. If “Hide Query Results” is turned on, the query results column is cleared (except for locked queries) before the results of the current query are displayed.
Select Down Arrow:
Choose “Clear All Results Before Each Query”
Lock Query Results to Desktop
Version 5: While holding down the <CTRL> key, click on the two little white boxes next to the query designator in the Query Results area:
The boxes turn red. While they are red, the query result will not be cleared when “Clear Query Results” is selected.
To unlock the query, <CTRL>/ Click the red boxes. The system removes the red fill from the boxes on the query designator:
Version 6: Right click on the query designator in the Query Results area:
The system opens a menu:
Choose “Lock Query Results”. The system displays the lock symbol next to the query designator:

To remove the lock, right click on the query designator again and click on “Unlock Query Results”:
Folder Objects Area – Columns Available

To sort the display by a column, point to the column title, a dropdown arrow will appear:

Trays (Inboxes) – View Folders
Version 5: Click on the dropdown to the right of the tray:
Slide the scroll bar to the appropriate folder, and click on it to open it.
The system shows the folder in the “Query Results” and opens it, displaying the contents lost in “Folder Objects”.
Version 6: Click on the dropdown to the right of the tray:
The system displays the contents in a series of pages containing up to 10 images:
Use the following symbols to move to:
the first page, the previous page, the next page, the last page,
Or, highlight the displayed page number: and change it to the desired page: . Press “Enter”.
The system shows the folder in “Folder Objects” but does not open it. Click on the folder to open it.
Trays (Inboxes) – Sort by alpha/date
Version 5: Check the center tray box to sort by alpha, uncheck it to sort by date
Version 6: Right click on the tray to choose between alpha and date sort order

Version 5: With the tray contents clear,Click the “Refresh” icon to the right of the tray:

System Browser
Version 5: Show/Hide System Browser turns on and off the system browser display:
Click and drag up each area individually, or right clickand drag to open both areas at once
Version 6: System Browser always shown if user has rights to use it
Open/close each area individually:
Scan
Scan – Select Scanner Device:
Version 5: From Drop Down next to Scan Icon, choose “Select Device”; then select scanner from Source List
Version 6: From Drop Down next To Scan icon choose “Reset default scanner”.
The menu closes, and nothing else appears to have happened.
However, fhe next time the user clicks “Scan” the system displays the Morena source selector popup:
Click the dropdown to display the list of available scanners:
. Click on the desired scanner to choose it.
The system will display the chosen scanner:
. Click “OK”.
Scan Multiple Pages into a Single Image
Version 5: Place first page on scanner, open folder where image is to be stored, scan first page, and then open image:
Place remaining pages on scanner, choose “Append Scanned Page”, and scan remaining pages:
System adds additional pages to the first:
Version 6: Place all pages on scanner, open folder where image is to be stored, check “Multi Page” checkbox on Scan button dropdown:

Click “Scan”. System puts all pages into one image:
Staple Images
Version 5: Select the images to be stapled onto another image by clicking on the top one and then holding the shift key while you click on the last one:
Once they are highlighted, drag the selected group onto the image to which they are to be appended:
Version 6: Select all the images to be stapled together by clicking on the top one, then holding the shift key while you click the on the last one:
, then right click on the selected image group and choose “Merge Selected” from the popup menu which appears:
Insert a Page
Version 5: Open the document to the page which should follow a page (or group of pages) to be inserted. Choose the “Insert Scanned Page” icon:

The system initiates the scanner and inserts the page(s). They will precede the page which was open when the insert was initiated. The system will also have the document open on the inserted pages(NOTE – If there are existing bookmarks in the document, they will need to be adjusted.)
Version 6: Open the document to the page after which additional pages are to be inserted. Place both the page currently in view in the document viewer window and the pages to be inserted onto the scanner. Right click in the document viewer window and choose “Rescan Page” on the popup menu which is displayed:
. The system will insert the additional pages following the rescanned page.
Extract a Page
Version 5: With the document open, navigate to the page to be extracted. Then press the “Extract Page” icon:
The system presents the following popup:
. Click “Yes”. The page is removed from the document and placed in the current folder.
Version 6: With the document open, navigate to the page to be extracted. Choose the “Extract Page From Document” icon:
. The system displays the following popup:
. Choose “Yes” to have the page removed from the document and added at the end of the current folder: .
Choose “No” to have a copy of the page placed in the current folder, but the original left in the document.
Choose “Cancel” to abort the operation.
Batches – Delete Empty Batches
Note: Neither version of NolijWeb permits batch folders containing objects to be deleted.
Version 5: Open the empty batch folder and Press the “Delete” key on the keyboard. Nolij displays:
Press “Yes” to delete the batch, and “No” or “Cancel” to abort the delete.
Version 6: Right click on the batch folder name (whether it is open or not). Nolij opens the folder and displays:
Click anywhere inside the message box to delete the batch, or anywhere outside the message box to cancel the operation.
Document Types – Customize Indexing List
To reduce the number of document types displayed when the user right clicks on an image:
Version 5: Choose the “Customize Indexing List” icon:
Nolij displays the “Modify Indexing List” popup:
Uncheck doc types to suppress them from the list of doc types which is displayed when a user right clicks on an image. Then close the popup box
Version 6: Right click on an image, and choose “More Index Types” from the dropdown
. The system displays the doc type list:
Right click on the doc type to be suppressed, and click the Show/Hide prompt:
. Now the doc type can be viewed in the “Hidden Index Types” which list at the bottom of the list:
Document Types – Show Hidden Indexing List Items
To re-include a particular doc type in the indexing list displayed when the user right clicks on an image:
Version 5: Choose the “Customize Indexing List” icon:
To make them re-appear on the “Indexing List”, check the unchecked doc types and close the popup box:
Version 6: Right click on an image and choose “More Index Types”:
. Scroll down to “Hidden Index Types” and click on the arrow to expand the list:
. The display changes to:.
Now scroll down to locate the hidden index type, then right click on the item:
. Click inside the “Show/Hide” message box to move the item back up into the regular Indexing list.
Annotations
Version 5: With the document open, choose the annotation tool bar from the Nolij Tool Bar:
The “Annotation Tool Bar” is opened:
Click on any of the tool icons, or right click on them to modify their properties. Property modifications become effective on annotations placed after the change has been saved.
Save the document on each page which has been annotated.
Version 6: With the document open right click inside the viewer area and hover over “Annotation Tools” from the popup menu. Thenclick on the desired tool: .
(Or, choose the dropdown arrow next to the “Annotation Tool” on the icons at the top of the viewing window:
To delete or alter the properties of an annotation, right click the annotation itself and make your choice from the menu which opens.
It is only necessary to save the annotations on leaving the document – all annotations will be saved.
Email an Image – Version 5
Version 5: Right click on the document to be emailed. Choose “Send to Email Recipient” from the bottom of the menu which pops up:
The system opens the user’s default email browser, inserts the folder name and image name in the subject line and attaches the image:

Enter the addressee information, create the email body, and send it.
This is how it will look to the recipient:
The address book of the email handler works normally.
Any annotations on .tif files will accompany the image, and will be viewable by the recipient depending on the .tif viewer they choose.
Email an Image – Version 6
(Based on the following information, you may want to consider sending images to yourself, then forwarding them to the intended recipient.)
Version 6: Right click on the image to be emailed, and select “Email” from the menu which pops up:
The system opens a “Send as attachment form”:
. Enter data in each field. Then click “Send.”
The system sends the email formatted as follows:

Notice that in the email as received:
- the recipient’s name is not displayed in the “To” information,
- the “From” information shows the user’s ONID with “[” indicated as the email address. Recipients will not be able to respond to the sender simply by choosing the “Reply” function in their own email handler.
- The document name and folder information are not included.
Annotations made on the images will not be included with the attached file.
