PLEASE NOTE
1. CONTRIBUTORS - your orders will be filled first. Please, if using Email: for subject type "Contributor order"; if using post indicate "Contributor" on the envelope.
Doing so will allow us to easily create a fair distribution "pool" balancing the Email with mail from Asia, Europe, down under, west and east coasts, etc....
2. For the initial distribution, which ends on April 1, 2008, ONLY members of the American Rhododendron Society may order from this catalog.
3. ANYONE may order from this catalog beginning April 2, 2008.
4. All distribution will END June 20, 2008.
At the close of all distribution, excellent seed usually is left over. We will offer this seed on the web at $1.00 per packet. We hope to have our on line lists modified to
reflect only the seed batches that remain available.
The Seed Exchange can only work the "closeout special" sale on the Internet. Any member who cannot obtain access to the Internet and is willing to order "blind" may
request a minimum number of 20 packets (all 20 can be all of one lot number i.e.: 20 pkts. of lot#6) plus $4.00 added for postage and other expenses, beginning June 21,
2008. (Exception, contributors may order less than 20 packets total.)
This "special closeout" will end on September 20, 2008. You will expedite distribution if you include a self-addressed mailing label with your order
5. Check back at our web sites as we may have late arriving seed listed and a "closeout special" offer:
6. NEW: Beginning 2 April 2008 anyone may order any number of packets of all lot numbers selected
TO PLACE YOUR ORDER

additional substitutions to fill your order.

or submit Email orders to:
This is how the catalog is arranged:
Contributor, Country
species seed, hand pollinated (hp) *1 or controlled pollination (cp) *2
species seed, collected wild (cw)
species seed, self fertile (op, self fertile) or open pollinated (op)
hybrid seed, hand pollinated (hp)*1
companion plant seed (Comp. – prefix)
*1 all seed lots not marked 'selfed', 'cp', 'cw', 'op', or 'op, self fertile' are hand pollinated, hp will not be written.
*2 cp = "Controlled Pollination" which differs from HP in that the stigma is physically covered after pollination. This covering is meant to act as an extra protection against accidental contamination with unknown pollen.
Some contributors have supplied us with a list of "little known hybrids" they have used. This list will immediately follow the contributor's seed lot numbers.
Notes that are relevant to internet have been removed from the hard copy catalog listing of lots.
Every effort is made to avoid spelling errors; species are listed under the name supplied by the contributor and thus may vary as to classification system. Not all hybrid names are registered or found in other reference works.
Please keep your catalog for future reference as packets only are marked with lot number.
A SPECIAL THANKS to all contributors who remain the foundation of the seed exchange. We are also grateful to webmasters Hans Eiberg of Denmark, Hans Revesjö of Sweden and Bob Weissman and Don Smart of the United States. Werner Brack does proof reading of catalogue entries. All are ARS members.
Hank Schannen's large rhododendron collection will remain open, by appointment, for pollen collection. Please contact either Hank or Ron at: rareFINDnursery inc., 957 Patterson Rd., Jackson NJ 08527. Phone: (732) 833 - 0613. E-mail: Fax: (732) 833 – 1965 Web site:
Hard Copy Catalogues
The Seed Exchange only mails hard copy catalogues to:
- Members who have no internet access and are either/or
a). Contributors
b). Members who ordered seed the previous year
c). Members who requested the current year’s catalogue
2. Internet enabled members who requested one.
8. You will expedite distribution if you include a self-addressed mailing label with your order.
POLLEN-TO-SEED-PROGRAM: $100 USD VALUE TO SEED CONTRIBUTORS is still in effect for 2008 and all contributors are entitled to use this program
The Exchange is looking forward to extensive use of this program.
*1. The Exchange has submitted a list of seed contributors eligible to receive pollen to RSF. The contributors only need order pollen from RSF and RSF will send pollen directly to them; the bill for pollen payment will come to The Exchange. This arrangement should make ordering of pollen especially easy for overseas members, as one will not need to convert currency.
