Scholarships
Below are the scholarship applications we have in the Student Services Office at the Unatego High School. New scholarship opportunities appear frequently. Students are encouraged to read the announcements for any new scholarship applications. Please contact the counselors or Mrs. Maruszewski at 988-5097 for further assistance.
Amy Bindelglass Memorial Scholarship
*Amount awarded: 1st place $500, 2nd place $200
*Application requirements: write a complete persuasive essay (does not exceed 1,500 words) considering the potential ethical issues and make a persuasive argument either for or against using social media to advertise your need for an organ. See application for further details.
Bassett Healthcare Network: Fox Hospital Auxiliary Joanne Burdick Scholarship
*Amount awarded: $2,000
*Application requirements: must be accepted at an accredited college or nursing school and entering a human health-related field of study. A brief essay and two letters of reference from non-relatives are also required. See application for further details.
Chen-Del-O FCU Scholarship Program
*Amount awarded: $500 given to student upon proof of attending their 2nd college semester
*Application requirements: must be a member of the Chen-Del-O Federal Credit Union. Applicant must also complete an essay, along with official transcript and SAT/PSAT scores along with application. See application for further details.
Edward Roelle Scholarship- Sidney Area Hospital Foundation
*Up to (8) $500 scholarships available
*Awarded to a student who will graduate in the Hospital Foundation area who intends to pursue education in the healthcare field
*Applicants must include scholarship application along with a cover letter describing how and when the applicant decided to pursue a career in the healthcare field, including experiences and individuals who may have influences they decision. Applicants should also describe their immediate goals and those they expect to realize upon completion of their further education.
“In Memory of Keisha Faulkner” Scholarship
*Amount of award: $200
*Award to a student who will be furthering their education in any “non-traditional” program. A program in which you won’t receive an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree (Cosmetology, auto body, CAN, and BOCES Certification, etc.).
*Complete application must include official academic transcript, two letters of recommendation, and an essay. See application for essay requirements and further details.
NAACP Annual Scholarship in Memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
*Amount of award: $500
*Applicant must demonstrate exemplary leadership skills who have championed the cause of cultural awareness, diversity and harmony.
*Applicants must submit a 500-750 word essay on “Saluting Greatness: The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”. Applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation: one from school and one from the community.
Otsego County Federation of Sportsmen: Jon Karker Scholarship
*Amount of award: $250
*Awarded to a student who will be pursuing a career in criminal justice, environmental sciences, forestry, fisheries or wildlife. See application for further details.
Otsego-Schoharie and Delaware Masonic Charities, Inc. Scholarships
*Four $750 scholarships available
*High school transcript, essay from applicant regarding educational/professional aspirations (300-500 words, typed), 3 letters of recommendation (one of which is to be from a Mason when possible), notification of college acceptance and listing of colleges applied to.
Sand Hill Memorial Scholarship
*Amount of award: $100
*Awarded to a student who is the son or daughter of a veteran and is going to college or other school of higher learning. This award will also be based on financial need.
Unadilla Fire Department Scholarship
*Applicants must have a family member involved in volunteer FD or EMT organization or have honorary status. Applicant must also volunteer for some community service, maintain a “C” or better average. See application for further details.
Unatego Alumni Association
*Two scholarships will be granted: 1 for a student who will be attending a 4 year college and 1 for a student who will be attending a vocational/tech college
*Scholarships will be a minimum of $200 each
*The complete application must include official transcript, two letters of recommendation, a copy of acceptance letter from the college of vocational institution you will attend. Applicant must also complete an essay. See application for essay requirements and further application details.
