Carol Baugh To Discuss Appalachian Quilts
Wow! And here we go again. We have a great year set up for the MVQG this year. February will see Carol Baugh coming to guild to lecture and present on our Ohio and Appalachian quilting roots. This lecture will be free, so bring a friend. If anyone has any older “Ohio” quilts or Appalachian quilts please bring those to show, too.
March brings with it a Kaleidoscope of Color when Paula Nadelstern flys into Dayton to visit us. She will be doing two classes; Puzzle Quilts on March 8 and Simple Symmetry on March 9. These will be full day classes and are $50 for members and $60 for non-members. Please share this info with the other guilds you belong to so we can fill these classes up. She will also lecture “Symmetry Surprise: The Kaleidoscope Design Inspiration” on March 8. Please contact me to sign up.
Lastly, February’s Inner Artist Challenge will be to take your Holiday exchange fabric (or three of you own fabs) + 3 or more of your own fabrics to create a “Color Me Happy” top that is at least 12 x12. Come join the fun. There will be a prize drawing and you will have a top to enter in the next guild show!
Have a great month, and take some time to quilt
Lesa Bame, Vice President
A Note from the President...
I hope everyone is getting all of their quilting done in the cold months of the year. I am in the process of reorganizing my house. In preparation for the Year of the Rabbit which begins on Feb. 3, 2011. Although most of us celebrate the New Year on January 1st, I need to give myself that extra month to get it together after the holidays. So my clean-sweep, organization and re-assessing my goals take on some Chinese traditions.
I hope you are seeking out your Super Powers to share with us in February. There are so many talented people in our group it would be sad to waste them. I hope you will come up to me at the meeting or send me an e-mail and let me know what you like to do and I will gladly hook you up. We are such a big group and if you are new it is really hard to find your niche unless you seek it out. There are so many great people to meet at Miami Valley Quilters’ Guild, new and old members alike.
Other than the ‘tea and talk’ there are also small groups, committees, projects and such that we offer. So, it’s time to get hopping during this year of the rabbit and jump right in.
